Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Thanks for the info. I feel fairly confident now that Deaigh/Day did NOT
marry Coffelt. That was probably written up by someone with the same
reasoning about the possible sound of the name back then that I have. I
know that my John Day had a son, John Day, but he was born in 1798, who was
married in 1826 to Ellenora Tanner. One of THEIR sons also married a
Bowman, but that was much much later. Thanks loads for the info!

Sorry, my Coffeld line is from Virginia. Afraid my knowledge doesn't go
beyond that except that mine's father was from York, PA. Good hunting.
Happy New Year. Ginny

Hi Jan: Got my info from Amelia Gilreath's book "Haller/Holler/Hollar
Genealogy". Her book shows there is a marriage bond for them in Shenandoah
Co, VA, for 4 December 1785. She shows the spelling as DAKE. His name was
spelled DOKE in his daughter, Elizabeth's Will in 1822. In Peter HALLER's
Will in 1796, his name is shown as DAKE. Amelia also shows the Coffeld line
in her book, "Oh Shenandoah I Love Your Daughter" on page 182. I have a
copy of the Shenandoah Co. marriage bond for his son, John DAKE, who married
Cathrine BOWMAN in 1817. John DAKE's Will in 1815 shows his name as DAKE.
The 1820 census shows it as DAKE. A land record in 1748 for Lunenburg Co.,
VA, shows a John DOKE. "Chadwick's History of Shelby County, Indiana" found
in the DAR Library in Washington, DC, has a history of the John DAKE family
who migrated to that County from VA in 1828 (this line). Haven't run across
any of your spellings.
Hope this is of some help. Ginny
