Hi Bethany,
By now you may have learned your Grandparent's birth/death dates. If not, a handy tool to easily look up death dates is the free Social Security Death Index at Rootsweb.
Click on ADVANCED SEARCH:
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi
Search for someone by first or last name and/or the county in which they lived. Can't find them? Try using just their first name's initial.
I found this on your loved ones:
LEON P COFFEE
20 Mar 1920
31 Mar 1999
Last residence: 74501 (Mcalester, Pittsburg, OK)
440-18-8914 Oklahoma
and
MAXINE COFFEE
04 Apr 1921
22 Jan 2000
74501 (Mcalester, Pittsburg, OK)
560-24-8703 California
(Her card was issued in California.)
Many researchers have noticed that the free database often has more data than does Ancestry's PAID SSDI database. Go figure! Also, Rootsweb's SSDI database is updated frequently--often within weeks of a person's death. They have 78,989,085 records as of today. You can even order a copy of your relative's original application and see who they listed as their parents and their birthplace (for a fee).
Happy Hunting,
Norton

Brenda I will check this out, and I appreciate
your help very much. It sounds like we are on
the same link. I know Uncle Joe taught Blacksmithing
in and around Atkin's and the university for a semester.
I have heard he did some real pretty wagon's and buggy's
in his days.
Thanks again,

Betty
My coffee's were Atkins &Yell Co. the other line of Coffee's are connected, we connect through Jessie in N.C.
Lavina Coffee Brown? I think, she's been off line for about 2 months. I spoke with her in Dec but my pc crashed and I don't have her old e-mail address or telephone number available until I can fix the old pc.
She will be back on as soon as she gets her connection back , something to do with the cable co. changing and not being able to connect.
Go to Roots pages and look at Richard Kings pages, I believe that she gave Richard some Jessie information, it has her full name and old mns address which isn't working. Richard might have her descending lines on his page.
Or you can also check the Coffee Clearing house page, she might have her lines on that.
She sent me her info but I'm unable to access it.
Brenda

It's official. A direct male descendant of William Coffee Berry has Coffee DNA. He had all 12 markers match all 12 markers of other Coffee/Coffeys.
When William Coffee Berry, b. 1795 in NC, wrote in his day book that his mother, Elizabeth Fields Berry, told him he and his sister, Mary Coffee Berry, were the acknowledged offspring of Rice Coffee, he was right.
This will be good news for some of his descendants and sad news for others who were hoping Bradley Berry was William's father.
I'd be glad to email with anyone about this. I have a tremendous amount of info on this family along with photos. I'd like to see photos of the Coffees, please.
