If I follow this line correctly, this Ambrose was the Irish emigrant who shows up first at Fort Boonesboro with Daniel, etc?!
That Ambrose, to date, has no known connection to any earlier Coffey/es in America.
I would like to invite any male with proven descent from Ambrose to participate in the Coffey DNA project. Anyone interested in more details on the project should contact Fred Coffey. He can be reached via e-mail: fredcoffey at aol.com. Use the usual e-mail address format.

Thank you for sharing the info on your line, which I have now added to my files. I do not have any further info on this line. I have some on my own direct blood line, but that's about it. If you wish to contact me personally, please feel free to write to

MY GGrandmother was Aramatha Coffee brother to William Mason and daughter of Amos D. Coffee and Nancy J Williams. Amos D. and Nancy J. were married 29 Dec 1849
Census indicate that Amos D. was born in KY in 1831, and Nancy in also in 1830. She married Joseph Francis 24 Nov 1879 in Bloomington, KY.
Amos and Jane Coffee, Aramathy, and Joseph Francis all grew up in this small town, and all their children were born there. Amos and Nancy had Eliza b.1850, Aramathy b.1853, William Mason b.1855, Rosetta b.1859, Rebecca b.1862, and Nancy b.1870.
Aramanthy (you will notice, each time you see her name it is spelled differently; Aramanthea, Aramantha, Remity, I picked Aramathy because that is what is on her first census. Even she could not spell it the same all the time!} and Joseph had five children. William Harrison b. 12 Feb 1881, used Harrison for a given name and was nicknamed not Tude but Toot. John Lacy, called Lacy b.8 May 1884, d.15 Sep 1971, Smith b. 9 May 1886 d.27 Jul 1971 Mary J. Francis Welch b.1889 d.1923, and Minnie Francis Van Kirk b. 18 Mar 1892 d. 27 May 1987.
Minnie was my grandmother, she married Elmer Ellsworth Van Kirk b.24 sep 1878 d.2 Nov 1946, m. 7 Apr 1917 in Oklahoma. They had four children Venoy b.31 Dec 1917, d.2 Jan 2005, Leroy b. 3 Sep 1919 d. 3 Dec 1996, Alloy b.1 May 1921 d.30 May 1993, and one daughter Sunshine b.1 Sep 1924 d. 21 Feb 2004.
Grannie had three sons, four grandsons, and five. greatgrandsons
Leroy was my father.
I have information about the sibs of Aramathy; but nearly zilch on any family for Joseph Francis. If anyone knows or has a good guess as to who his parents and sibs were, I whould surly appreciate any information and am more than willing to share what I have.

Hi Margie,
I am researching this family too for my wife's mother-in-law. She is a granddaughter of Katie Call. Have you had any luck tracking down Frank Coffee?

Hi, Jack,
You're right. With such a burning question of whether Rice Coffee or Bradley Berry was the father of William Coffee Berry, you'd think we'd taken care of this by now.
I had to push genealogy to the side and now I have the time to get back to this.
I may actually get around to ordering the DNA kit tonight.
I will let all know what the results are.
Thanks for reminding me!
Rose

Rose,
I seem to recall that your husband was going to have a DNA test. If so, do you have results yet?
