Hi Rose,
ISince receiving the Berry files referred to earlier, I've been curious about the Berry/Coffey connection.
Several long-time Rice descendants with whom I've spoken about the connection have pleaded ignorance.of the whole affair. Made me question whether they were simply ignorning ior really didn't know about it.

Thanks, Jack. Nat is willing to do the DNA project and he is a direct male descendant from William Coffee Berry.
It would be nice to see what the results of a DNA test would show in regards to this Berry/Coffee debate.

Hi Wayne,
I have the book The Coffee/ey - Gilbreath - Turnbow Families by Elmer C.
Gilbreath and Delma Turnbow Freeman, copied from microfilm in the LDS
library at SLC, UT. I think this book was originally published in the late
50's. Not sure how accurate the information is, but it generally agrees
with that which you sent to me.
Thanks for your help.

My Coffee information is just a little different than yours but very close.
I get mine from the book "Our Kin Past and Present" by Delma Turnbow
Freeman.
Have you read this book. If not it has alot of Coffee, Turnbow, Petty,
Caudle, Gilbreath and more information.
I am descended from several of these above named people, Gary Ayres

Jack,
This is (what I have for the Tennessee Coffee's in your query) a three
generation chart on the descendents of Chesley Coffee, Jr.
He is buried under this stone (link below) I believe. Chesley Coffee
memorial:

Seems like we have a match but I do not know anything of the Mary Saunders
who married Nathan Coffee, Chesley's son. I know he had at least two
marriages. I have Nathan's first wife as Euphance Gilmer Stockard but don't know if
that is right. I believe that came from my sisters research, but I always
thought Euphance was married to Landon Coffee not Nathan? You have any supporting
evidence on this question?

You'll have to forgive my forgetfulness (re: Wm Russell). When I responded earlier via e-mail my mind was apparently somewhere else.
Anyway, I do not have an earlier/later marriage for either William or Rosa.
If you can give me a lead or two I'll see what I can find.
Jack
Was William Russell a second spouse for Alice? I have
no info on him.
Hope yaw'll have a safe trip!

The 5 bros & sister are correct, but think there is
one more. Do you have
the list of half brothers and sisters from Wm Russell?
I think there are
about nine on my list.
