Which General John Coffee? There were two in the early 1800s. One was from
TN and AL and the other was from GA. They were 1st cousins. The one from TN and
AL served with Gen. Andrew Jackson. Betty.

I see you are lelated to the LaRoza family. I was wondering if you have come across anything on a John LaRoza, born approximately 1810 who married Abigail Smith. I believe he was the brother of Catherine and Peter, son of Zebulon. Would appreciate any information. John LaRoza is my gr-gr-gr grandfather.

She married Harris Homer Mickel, which my adopted father (John Coffee Mickel) was one of the sons of that marriage. Mae Coffee Mickel died in 1974. I have a picture of her, taken about 1959 - 60).
I have just begun my search on these roots, and would appreciate anything you find, if this lead helps you to find anything more.
Thank you!

My adopted father was named after General John Coffee...thus John Coffee Mickel. His mother (my grandmother) was Mae O. Coffee, (died 1974) who married Harris Homer Mickel.
I'm not sure if she is the daughter, or grand daughter to General John Coffee, as I have just begun to search those roots. But, maybe this might be of some help for you...if you find anything, please share it with me. Anything else I find, I will send you an update.

I am not a relation. I found this in a scrapbook.
"The death of Warren Marvin Coffee occurred Thursday morning, June 3, 1937, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Errington, after a few days' illness.
Warren Marvin Coffee was born in Darlington, Wisconsin, October 1, 1852, the oldest child of H.P. and Mary Ellen Coffee. He came to Iowa at the age of seven with his uncle, Jessie, and aunt, Ellen Patterson, in a covered wagon and settled in Jamestown. His entire life from then was lived here in this township.
March 14, 1877, he was united in marriage to Ellen Eliza Baxter of Jamestown. Four children were born to this union - Josephine, now Mrs. J.W. Errington of McIntire (Iowa); Clifford, at home; Hazel Marie, now Mrs. Leo Arnold of St. Paul (Minnesota); and Cora Lulu who died in infancy.
Mr. Coffee was an excellent neighbor, a tender and loving father, and an earnest and upright man. For thirty-two years he held the office of assessor, which he filled with credit to himself and satisfaction to the public.
He leaves to mourn his death, three children, one grandchild, Beulah Arnold, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sanford of Minneapolis, and Norman Mosley, who has lived in the home for 48 years.
Mr. Coffee lived to a ripe old age, being 84 years, 8 months, and 2 days old at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. After a prayer at the funeral home, the body was taken to the Methodist church and interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery (Riceville, Iowa)."
