I'm looking for anyone researching, or who has researched the family of
John and Rachel Pidgon Coffee. They were married 8 Dec 1784 in Loudon Co.,
VA, and later moved to Belmont Co., OH.
Their children were William, John, Joseph, Rachel, Mary, Ruth, Merab, Isaac,
Charles and Jonathan.
The child that I have an interest in is Joseph who married Naomi McKinley.
Their son John, married Lydia Elliot and had children: Sarah, Lilburn (married
Dell Stewart), Elizabeth, Lyudia, Mary Eliza, John, William.
Joseph and Naomi also had another son named Lilburn.
I am interested in the two Lilburn men.
Thanks - Jack

Sorry, I do not know of any family which emigrated from Italy to Brazil.
I am trying to search on my Grandfather's lineage. My Grandfather, Camillo
Rocco, originally came from Colliano, Italy in the Province of Salerno.
His Mother was Josephine Cioffi or spelled possibly Chieffi, from Caposele,
Italy in the Province of Avellino. My records indicate that his Father
was Amodio Rocco; however, I do not know if he was from Caposele or from
Colliano.
Good luck with your search. If you have any information regarding my family
relatives, please advise.
Thanks,
Steve Heimovitz

I am trying to locate the burial location of my Great Grandfather Nimrod

Feb. 26, 1904. The article states he died after leaving Floreance with
his family on January 5. He died on the 18th. near Plano after a brief
sickness of less than an hour. There was no notice in the paper at Plano
or a Death Certificate. The Plano Genealogy Assn. has made a book with
all the Cemeteries in Collin County and of course his name is not ther.
Nimrod Coffee was born in Alabama Feb 10, 1837 to Richard Smith Coffee

<< Is there a way to post photos to the Coffee list? >>
No, you cannot send any kind of attachments through the mailing list. I also
don't have room right now to store photos for the Coffee website. If you
have photos on a website somewhere, I can put a link on the Coffee website to
them. That's about all I can do right now.

Two of my family lines, Smith and Mullins, were in Revolution, left VA moved
to Wayne Co., KY and on to Alabama. Capt. J. W. C. Smith, CSA, married
Elizabeth Caroline Knight. She was the g-g-grandaughter of Thomas Graves
Coffee who lived in Center Star, Lauderdale Co., AL. Betty.
Kitty,
I also have a Coffee connection from Martin Coffee who may have started in
Virginia, then Wayne County KY, then Warren County, IL. His daughter Mary
Polly Coffee married Henry Meadows, son of James Meadows. James was a
Revolutionary Vet on the Virginia Continental Line. They all ended up in
Warren County, IL. My Martin Coffee married first Elizabeth Bronson and
second Nancy Phelps where I descend from. James Meadows father was Daniel
who married Elizabeth Jennings. Martin Coffee lived to be over 100 years
old.

I am looking for every Mary Coffee in Lavaca County, TX that may have died in
1879 & 1880. There is some confusion on our Mary Coffee's burial site. There
are 2 buried within a few miles of each other. Our Mary Coffee was born in
1815 according to the 1850 and 1860 census and we found her buried in Andrews
Chapel, north of Hackberry. She was the widow of Logan Coffee, and daughter
of James Ragland. The other Mary was born in 1809 according to her tombstone.
I need to find out who the Mary is that is buried in the Williams Cemetery.
Any help is appreciated.
Many thanks,

<< Are you able to tell me where the first name of Woodson came from? >>
Probably came from Dr. John Woodson who came to Jamestown in 1619. My 3rd
great-grandmother was Elizabeth Woodson Coffee daughter of Mary Knight and
Thomas Graves Coffee. Capt. Thomas Graves came to Jamestown in 1608. My
grandfather, his daughter, one of her grandsons and one of her great
grandsons have the name Woodson. Old family name. Betty.
Hi Dena,
In 1933, J. Evetts Haley wrote in a letter to Papa (Woodson Coffee
1862-1953), asking him to write down all his memories. So Papa started
writing on notebook paper his recollections of earlier years. Papa died in
1953. Several of my cousins got together in I think the 1970's and Xeroxed
all his papers, and typed his notes, and put them in book form for the
family. What a wonderful work they did! The book is about 1 1/2 inch thick,
and full of wonderful memories and photos. That is what I call "Papa's Book."
Your family is mentioned three times in his book. Here are the quotes from
Papa's book:
"The William Saunders Coffee we all visited with often is kin, called him
Uncle Bill & his wife Aunt Betsy. They had three sons -
Milton, John N., the baby, and another son I can't recall. Mary Jane,
Elizabeth, Catherine, Marietta & Margarett were the girls. We visited them
often as they were all neighbors in my younger days."
"THE BEST INFORMATION...
The best information I have been able to obtain relative to the
Coffee Family was given to me some 30 years ago by Mrs.
Catherine Williams (Catherine Coffey) whom I called "Cousin
Cathy". She was the daughter of William Saunders Coffey,
whom we called "Uncle Bill". Wm Saunders Coffey was an uncle
of Langston, William, Logan and Woodson Coffee - 4 brothers
who lived in Colorado County Texas. These four brother had a
sister Lucy, who married Green Morgan of Colorado County.
Daniel Morgan, their son, became a Methodist minister. These
brothers came to Texas in 1842, from Alabama overland in ox-
wagons. The eldest brother stopped in N. E. Texas and reared
his family. One son Benjamin who was killed in the Civil War.
There were also daughters. A son of one of them, Zemery
Hayes is now acting V. P. of Republic Dallas Nat. Bank. Wm. &
Woodson were bachelors."
"A SHORT SKETCH OF THE ..
A short sketch of the Coffee family as related to
me about 30 years ago by an old lady, Mrs Catherine Williams
of Lavaca Co., Tex., whose maiden name was Coffee & a distant
relative. Her father, William, Uncle Bill his we called him,
was an Uncle of my Grand-father, Logan, & his brother & one
sister. History from the family shows there was some of the
name emigrated to Kentucky at an early date, possibly from
Virginia or Carolina, as my Grand-Father was a native of Ky.,
and whos Father was James, or more commonly called Jim."
Hope this helps,
