My apologies to the Coffee/Coffey rootsweb list members for my accidentally posting a message meant for private mailing lists. I know and understand this type of listing was and is entirely out of place on genealogy pages.
Ray
Folks,
A reminder. Please remember to keep your posts on topic. Posts made to this
mailing list should be about people with the surname of COFFEE or COFFEY, or
those related to a Coffee/Coffey family. Off topic posts include those of
religious and political natures, virus warnings, boycotting items, etc.
Flaming of posters is also not allowed on the list. Those who choose not to
follow these few rules will be unsubscribed. This has been a great list.
Let's get back to posting about our Coffee/Coffey ancestors.
Thanks for your understanding,
Eleanor Colson

Subject: Something to Think About
Are we Americans as dumb as we appear or is it just that we do not think?
While the Chinese held our plane and it crew hostage, presumably to get
more time to inspect the plane, the media wrangled its hands and criticized
the Bush Administration for perceived errors.
Yet 70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to
the Chinese should be suspended. Well, duh...why do we need the government
to suspend trading privileges? DO IT YOURSELF!
Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says "Made in
China" or "PRC" (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another
product--or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on
Chinese products, however you will be equally amazed at what you can do
without. Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs,
use real ones and benefit some American farmer.
Easter is just an example, the point is... do not wait for the government to
act. Just go ahead and assume control on you own. IF 200 million Americans
refuse to by just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade
imbalance resolved in our favor...fast! The downside?
Some American business will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign
stockpiles of inventory. The solution...lets give them fair warning. So, we
will not implement this UNTIL May 1, and we will only continue it until June
1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese
for 1/12th of the total or 8% of their American exports. Then they will at
least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and
lawlessness are worth it.
Remember, May 1st to June 1st.
Send this to everyone you know. Show them we are Americans, and
NOBODY can take our people and hold them illegally.
Pass it on America!

6. Young lady (?? name)
T. L. Reeves

Would like to give these pictures to family members and learn if there
is any connection to my Smith's/Mills/Smileys.
William John Smith's parents were William John Smith and Jane Isabella
Mills from No. 42, Southhampton Buildings, Holborn in the County of Middlesex.
I'm not sure. Supposedly our Coffee's come from the Donner Party. Our
Franklin's mother was Mary Gray (?) who was in the party. I seem to
remember Franklin being born in Az. We're having a hard time getting any
more information than this since there are sooo many Coffee's. I just
signed up for the census records on Ancestry.com and after a while I need to
give my eyes a rest. It's great when I do find someone I'm looking for or
at least a relative. Where are your husband's Coffee's from?
If I find anything else out I'll let you know.
Ellen

This is just a wild shot, but did any of your Coffee's come to Oklahoma
by chance? I have a friend that had Coffee's out in California that came
here. If I am not mistaken , they married into the Richardson. I don't
have any dates, except the daughter (Her name was Edith Leo.) was probably
born circa 1910-16. I told her I would ask around, since I was researching
my husband's Coffee's. Thanks.

Surname: Cioffi, Chieffi
-------------------------
I believe the correct spelling of the name I am searching is Cioffi from
Caposele, Province of Avellino, Region of Campania.
Written records indicate Chieffi, but I believe that is wrong.
Are there any links to a Josephine Cioffi prior to 1880 from Caposele,
Italy?
