Winnie Coffey Ramsey and Silas M. Ramsey are buried in Randolph County,W.Va
on private land that once belonged to their grandaughter,Mary.Winnie's
parents were Reuben G. Coffey and Nancy Giles. Winnie's and Silas' gravestones
were seen by me in 1974 and photographed at that time. The site is approximately
4 miles west of Pickens. I didn't know until recently that very few people
know where these graves are. Please add them to your list of cemeteries.
I just wanted to let you know that I now have a page for the COFFEE or COFFEY
ancestor that you are researching that includes a place for an e-mail link to
you. It is linked to the homepage
[http://members.aol.com/eleanorcol/CoffeeGen1.html]
I am working on adding some resource pages for marriages, cemetery records,
military records, etc. If you have something that will go on these pages
please send it to me and I will add it. Please be advised that I am having
surgery Thurs, so it may be awhile before your submissions show up.
If you have a Coffee or Coffey related webpage that you would like linked to
the Coffee Family Genealogy page, just let me know.
Tom Bombaci, are you on this list? The link to your website no longer works.
I sure could use an update.
Thanks,
Eleanor Colson
Hi all, LOOK FOR NEW BOOK JUST RELEASED with my article !!
I descend from William Jones Born 1773 SC Died 5 Dec. 1873 GA and
Bashaba COFFEE Jones Born 1782 SC and Died 1879 GA (Rabun, County).
They married in 1800 Oconee County, SC. They had 14 known children. My
story is about their child number eleven. My story is called
"Split-Second Timing" about my great great grandfather who died as POW.
My great great grandfather, William Newton Jones, was born 10 January
1820. He married Malinda Jane LaPRADE in December 1853. Both died
leaving behind orphans. MY STORY is about WILLIAM NEWTON JONES being
lost 130 years to all family knowledge. ABOUT THE BOOK: Per Ms.
Smolenyak, "I already have reports of it showing up in bookstores
(mostly large ones) from Denver to Virginia Beach and of amazon.com
already shipping it On April 10th's release date" . Please READ my
story on page 210 & 211. I am so excited!!
The Book is THE COMPANION to the (new-to be released in June 2000) PBS
SERIES (13 episodes) ! Ms. Smolenyak has a site about this. GO TO:
"the new site when it does appear would be to go to http://www.kbyu.org
and click in the left margin on Ancestors". Below is another site for
Ms. Smolenyak about this information.
THE BOOK is called, " In Search of Our ANCESTORS: 101 Inspiring (true)
Stories of Serendipity and Connection in Rediscovering Our Family
History". The book is by Megan Smolenyak, an international marketing
consultant who has appeared on the TODAY show with Jack Ford (a 2nd
cousin) and is the lead researcher of the PBS series ANCESTORS. She has
published dozens of articles in genealogical publications and business
magazines and delivers seminars and workshops on genealogical subjects".
Let me know what you think of the book and the story about my (our) GG
Grandfather being found after 130 years!
