I am a descendant of Ephriam and Mary Coffer, through their son Joseph. My mom is 84 years old and I would love to give her as much information as I can on the ancestors. I have all of the stats on them but I do not know Ephriam's father was and I also do not have any documentation on Ephriam and Mary. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Once I receive this information it will help me to put together what I have and then I can possibly share with you.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration

Amazing how are files can fill up so fast. Anyway, there is an amaging
book, Elk Grove's Past At Sheldon: Miwok to the Millennium, by The GATE
Class of Pleasant Grove School 1999-2000, (California) that has a complete
history of the school. In part the land, etc., was donated by the Peter
Winklman family. Making a long story short there is a chapter that covers
Fredererick and Jane Winkleman. Fred and Jane's grandaughter, Frances Jane
Winkleman Cuthbertson, provided the information on Jane's middle name,
Melvina. Jane sometimes went by Melvina as well, there is a photo of "Fred
and Melvina Winkleman". (I have other pictures of Fred, it's certainly
him). All census records, and Jane M.'s death certificate indicate that
Jane was born in Missouri, that and the Winkleman's all lived in Cape
Girardeau Co. There is plenty of documentation for that as well.
Winkleman, Arizona was named after Fred and there is a history on that.
According to all the census, marriage, and death records and so on, we know
that Fred and Jane's first child was Barbara Francis Winkleman, born May 20,
1849. She married Casper Bennett. In the 1880 census of Fresno Co., CA.,
Barbara is still going by "Barbary" (note the spelling). Now, in the 1850
census of Cape Girardeau, it reads, Elliot Cofer, wife Mary, daughter Jane
M. (Not Jane Mary, or Mary Jane) the Cofer family is continued on the next
page of the census and includes Barbary F. age 1. The historical documents
in the book explain how Fred escorted his brother Peter out to California
during 1850. The census records also show that the next child was born in
Missouri, the 3rd child being born in California. Add to this that the 1840
census for Elliot Cofer shows, two sisters older than Jane. Then there is
the marriage record for Mary Cofer and William H. Frasier. The marriage
records says, "Miss Mary Cofer" not Jane Mary or Mary Jane.
I hope this is what you need, I can always make copies if you'd like.

p.s. I have a beautiful photo of Jane M.'s headstone at the cemetery in
Toll House, Fresno Co., CA
>> Hi Jody,
