I am looking for any descendant of THOMAS WITHERS COFER. I have a copy of his will in late 1700s and believe I descend through one of his sons. Let's talk. (And I'll send you a copy of the will.)

his SS appl.
Ring any bells?

I am researching WILLLIAM COFER b. 1750 Buckingham CO, VA and
he died 1819 Albermarle Co, SC.
He was married to a MARY ELIZABETH ? b. 1753 and d. 1817. They had
a daughter named ELIZABETH H. COFER b. 1780. Please e-mail me
at vicki(a)landsco.net
if you have seen this man.

This is in reply to a query dated July 1999 by Gary Duff, gbduff(a)worldnet.att.net wherein he was seeking the father of Frances Cofer of Roane County, Tennessee. I just joined the list and found your query.
I assume you mean Frances Cofer b.c. 1765. He is the father of my Elizabeth Cofer b. 1802 who married Thomas Davis c. 1825 in Morgan (Roane) Co., Tn.
I am guessing his father came from either Rockingham or Stokes Co., N.C. If you want me to share the data used to come to this conclusion re. Frances Cofer above, let me know.
