Dear List:
Can anyone help me locate information about my Great Great Granfather,
Ephraim Cofer, born 1802 in North Carolina. The first record I can find
on him is the 1830 Census of Wayne County, TN. In that census there is
also listed a James Cofer, age given as 80-90yrs. I am fairly certain
this is the father of Ephraim.
I cannot make any connections back to any Cofer lines from this 1830
date. And so far have been unable to locate where in North Carolina
Ephraim was born.
He was married to Mary Danley in Tennessee. I have not been able to
connect to her family either.
After leaving Tennessee, Ephraim and Mary moved to Missouri, Iowa and
finally settling in California.
If anyone out there can help me, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Dena Cofer Iverson
Dear List:
I would like to learn more about a Cofer family that I know to be from
Dodge County, Georgia. My father-in-law was John Benjamin Cofer. I
would like to correspond with someone doing research on his ancestors,
possibly James Andrew Cofer and Lee (Lea or Lelia) Merriwether Cofer.
Some of his brothers were: James V., Clark, Herschel, Charles & Everett.
I recall his mentioning sisters by the name: Effie, Suzie, Minnie Lee.
If any one has information on this family and would like to share it,
please reply. Thank you!
Gaye H. Coffer
