The only two dates I have are my father's birthday which is August 1907, the marriage of Thomas to Margaret in 1904. I think Thomas must have been born somewhere between 1875 and 1880, He would have then been 24 when he married. He died in the early 1930 and my father Michael came to England in 1936 or 1938 not sure which date is correct.
I know the family settle in a little village called Aughrim. But there is no trace of the three eldest children in that Parish. The first trace is of the eldest daughter called Mary and she was born in 1909.
Would be grateful for any information regarding the above.
Many thanks.

I read your e-mail re Thomas Coen, who was my grandfather. The only other information I ahve about him was that his mother Ithink was called Bridget, and Thomas was possibly born around 1875-1880. I have heard that he was a reservies in the British Army as when he died his wife received a pension from the Government.
Does this help in any way.
Many thanks.

Hello,Thank you SO much for writing.I'm not sure if we are talking about
the same Thomas Coen. I found his death record and he died in 1890 at
the age of 69. He died in Dungarvan Ireland. He was in the Royal Irish
Constabulary and may well have been a reservist in the British Army-I
haven't read that he was. Can you give me a little more information
about yourself, and who your parents are? Do you live in Ireland, or the
States?
Thank you so much for replying to my post. I really appreciate it.
Millie
I am tracing a PA-OH line of Mills, two or three of whom married Coens
(or Cowans) in the early 19th century. I would like to share info with
others who recognize these matches.
John Coen, Sr. married Asenath Mills - they were born 1793 and 1796,
respectively, and so probably married around 1820, plus or minus a few
years. Both were born in western PA, I think, and came as children with
their families to Knox County, OH. Asenath's parents were John and
Rachel (Leonard) Mills, of Washington County, PA. John and Asenath
moved from Knox Co OH to Marion Co, OH, then to Fountain Co, IN, and
finally to the Rensselaer area of Jasper Co, IN.
Second, Sarah Coen (or Cowan - probably of Cross Creek, Washington Co,
PA) married Michael Mills in the Bladensburg area of Knox County in 1815
or 1816. They had at least three children: Isaac, Eliza, and Thomas.
Third, William Cowan married Mary Mills of Maryland in the middle 18th
century. There is reason to believe that Mary's father was Michael Mills
of Frederick Co, MD, and that William and Mary lived in the Washington
DO area for a time, either in VA or Del.
I don't know how (or even if) these Cowan/Coens were related, but I
suspect they were. The John Coen/Asenath Mills line is of greatest
interest right now.

My father was called Michael Coen, he was born in Ballinasloe in August 1907, his father my gradfather was called Thomas Coen and he married a lady called Margaret Hession in Ballinsloe at St Michael's Church on 21st July 1904. Thomas had 5 sons and two daughters. The sons were Thomas, Jack, Michael, Patrick, and James always known as Raymond. The daughters were Mary and I think the other daughter was called Anna.
I think died in the 1930's and his wife Margaret died about 1955 or 1956.
Jack married and lived in Dublin he had two daughers Meave & Monia, both married. Michael came to England got married and also had two children.
Mary married late in life and had no children, Anna died when she was 15, Patrick died in his twenties and Raymond the youngest never married.
That is all I known about my father's family. Would be grateful if you known anything about this family to get in touch. Many thanks.
