Ah, different Hattie Coes, then, Susan. Thanks for your reply. My Hattie was born c. 1886 in Coombs, Suffolk, England. She married Charles Rickards, born c. 1885 in Berkshire, England. A son was James William Rickards, born c. 1920. James had a daughter Jacquelyn Harriet "Hattie" Rickards, born 1959 in Berkshire, England. Four generations back, this 1959 Hattie and I shared an ancestor named Abraham Coe, born 1818. The earliest Coes that I personally know of are from the southern Suffolk and northern Essex, England areas.
Hope your research continues to be rewarding.
Sally

Contact the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston, MA. They have most everything, and they may have it or know where to find it.

I have an original "Robert Coe, Puritan..."; "Orcutt's History of Torrington"; and "Winchester Annals", first editions. My G-Great Grandfather's signature is in the first two as he owned them. there are handwritten notes to/from a "Hattie M. Coe" including a letter from J.G. Bartlett (author of RCP) outlining her branch, which is also mine (just discovered). My Hattie, I believe was born abt 1867 and resided in Dorcester, Mass. for the end of her life.

What a wonderful find, Susan. I have some old county history books various family members have let me have since I do genealogy, but nothing overly exciting.
I haven't asked on the Palmer page yet. Thought I would try here first since the manuscript was sourced in RCP. But, I think you're right, I should give it a try, too.
Thanks for your help!
Gerrie

Susan, You have an original--of what?
You mention Hattie M. Coe. Is she Harriet Taylor, born 26 September 1867, who married Nathan Coe of Delvyns, Gestingthorpe, Essex? Are you in communication with her granddaughter Hattie Rickards? sakg(a)comcast.net

I have an original signed by my Great Grandfather, Lyman Wetmore Coe which I actually purchased from an estate dealer from the Estate of Hattie M.Coe. Fortunate that it made itself back in to our branch.(I also procured 1st editions of Winchester Annals and Orcutt's History of Torrington) :)
Unfortunately, I do not have reference to the Sarah Palmer you are looking for. Also, it's a little more difficult as Sarah and John were very popular names back then. Have you tried the Palmer list? I have asked with a cousin, was doing research on the Palmer family, and will pass on if answered.
I will keep looking tho.

Thank you for the link!
I have the Higginson printing of the Coe Family book (RCP), I got it years ago before we had Internet and all that.
I had found the link you posted, but it must be my old eyes as I cannot see that it has any information relating to the Coe Family. If I can't find anything else, I'll look into this one further.
What I'm specifically looking for is the information that Bartlett refers to on page 97 (Daniel and Sarah (Palmer) Coe). I'm hoping find more information on Sarah Palmer. I've been poring through old journals and family histories looking for tidbits on the family and have really been enjoying the reading.
Thank you,
Gerrie

I keep seeing J. Gardiner Bartlett refer to "The Thompson Mss." as one of his sources in his book "Robert Coe, Puritan". Does anyone know anything about this source. I've tried Googling it and come of with several references for Thompson Manuscripts, but none of them seem to apply. It would be nice to see if it still exists and if we could get access. Bartlett refers to it several times in his book.
