Hi Carl-
You are such a wealth of knowledge! Thank you so much for sharing it all with us...
I am actually interested in getting your book. Amazon shows it, but says its out of print. I am in the Pickerington Ohio area. Do you know of any source where I may obtain a copy for my own library? (Or at the very least, which local libraries might have it????)
We emailed some last year...I am a great grandaughter of Alyce Coe (McDaniel) from the Nelsonville/Athens Ohio area.
Thanks! Dawn

Does anyone have any info on my great grandmother's family. Ivy May Coe was born 1901 in Wisbech, Norfolk. She married Horace Frederick Yallop, 1921.

It appears that the family succesfully avoided the 1900 census taker. Like you, I cannot locate them.
Following is a link to William Franklin Coe's biography as it appears in the book, "The Coe Families of Maryland and Virginia" (Columbus, OH: 2002): http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=carlrcoe&id=I32904
I have attached a photo of William Franklin Coe.
I hope this is helpful.
Thank You,

Hi Traycie,
You are everywhere! Descendants of Richard Coe (1650-1725) of Charles County, MD, and Robert Coe (1596-1689) of Hempstead, Long Island, NY, have identical DNA. They were members of the same East Anglian Coe family. Thomas Coe of Groton, Suffolk, and Jamestown, VA, was likewise a member of this same family.
There was intermarriage between the early NY Coe family and Seaman family: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=Search&includedb=&lang...
Hope this helps.
Carl

There are two modes in which to subscribe:
1. The -L mode and now the "regular" mode. All regular
subscribers receive posts/messages made to
the list as separate/individual emails.
2. The -D mode and now the "digest" mode. All digest
subscribers receive posts/messages made to
the list as one BIG email.
If you previously subscribed to the list in both
-L and -D modes using the same email address, you
will find that you are *no longer* subscribed in
Digest mode.
The new software doesn't permit the same address
to be subscribed in both -L and -D modes.
Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you
will need to subscribe to the Digest using a different
email address.
Please give me a contact should anyone need further
elaboration.

Carl, I was looking for information on the DNA study that connects Jamestown's Timothy Coe to the rest of the Coes and re-found this posting from your trip to England. This paragraph caught my eye - "Just a short walk down the road was the slightly larger village of Boxford, where President Bush's ancestor Robert Coe lived and attended church. On April 10, 1634, he boarded the ship "Francis" at Ipswich, about fifteen miles east, and sailed for Winthrop's Massachusetts. Robert Coe went on to found the city of Hempstead, Long Island, NY, and is the ancestor of the large Northern Coe family."
I'm curious to know if your records show whether any Robert Coe's family married any of Captain John Seaman's family while they were in the business of settling Hempstead, LI NY. Captain John Seaman, another founding father of Hempstead, Long Island, is an ancestor of mine on another line than my Coe connection to Richard Coe who arrived in Charles County, MD about 1675. Curious first because it may mean I'm connected to two different Coe lines and second because if a connection between Robert and Richard is ever established, it's interesting to think about descendents of these families meeting and marrying three hundred years after their ancestors came to the New World.
Thanks for information or leads you can provide.
