Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Harry COE which was taken at the Brands
Studio in Chicago, Illinois. The photograph appears to have been taken in
the 1880's with Harry appearing to be in his 20's at the time it was taken.
Based on limited research I was able to locate a possible match in census
records as follows:
1870 census of Painesville Township, OH:
Isaac R. COE, age 41, a Steward, born NY
Julia E. COE, age 30, Keeps House, born MA
Mary E. COE, age 13, at School, born NY
Henry I. COE, age 11, at School, born OH
Addie B. COE, age 7, at School, born OH
John B. COE, age 5, at Home, born OH
Edward H. COE, age 3, at Home, born OH
James COE, age 10 months, at Home, born OH
1900 census of Chicago, IL:
Julia E. COE, age 66, born Jun 1833, a widow, 7 children/7 living, born MA,
parents born MA/VT
Harry I. COE, son, age 38, born Aug 1861, born OH, parents born NY/MA, a
Druggist
And on the same page of the census what appears to be her sons - John B. COE
and James R. COE along with their wives
I am hoping to locate someone from this COE Family so that the photograph
can be returned to its rightful place, with family. If you are a member of
this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
Rootsweb mailing lists are automatic and are
managed by list robots. These robots take care
of subscription requests and bouncing
(rejected) emails.
The most frequently asked question of
subscribers is:
*****************
"Why have I been unsubscribed?"
Answer:
If your list mail cannot be delivered for any
reason, the list robot unsubscribes you after
a certain number of failed attempts.
(For the COE list the maximum
member bounce score is: 3)
This can happen for a number of reasons - some
of the more common reasons are that your
mailbox is full, your spam filter is blocking
the list mail, your ISP is blocking list mail
from Rootsweb, you have put an automatic
responder on your email....
If you were unsubscribed and did not wish to
be taken off the mailing list, simply subscribe
again. However be forewarned that if whatever
caused the list robot to unsubscribe you the
first time is still happening, it will simply
remove you again after a specific number of
bounces--3--(rejected list mail to your email
address).
But as a courtesy to all COE
listers, I can re-subscribe you manually. Just
let me know.
******************
Other questions asked are:
"How do I unsubscribe?"
Answer:
Simply follow the instructions at the bottom
of every list mail message.
******************
"Why is my mail not getting to the mailing
list?"
Answer:
Make sure that you are sending from the same
email you are subscribed under. The list robot
does not recognize names. It only recognizes
email addresses. If your sending email address
is not on the subscriber list, your email will
be rejected.
******************
"Why am I not getting list mail?"
Answer:
Check the HelpDesk notices in the yellow box
for announcements about any technical problems
with Rootsweb mail.
http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/
If you don't find the answer to your problem on
the HelpDesk page you need to check if you are
still subscribed to the list. You can get a
list of all your subscribed to mailing lists
from Password Central:
http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/
If Password Central doesn't include all lists
to which you should be subscribed, re-subscribe
to any lists that are missing from your
subscribed lists by sending a new e-mail to:
LISTNAME-request(a)rootsweb.com (replacing the
word LISTNAME with the actual list name).
Put only the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject and
message body of your e-mail.

Should anyone need further elaboration then you
may give me a contact.

My gratitude to Lorine McGinnis Schulze for

Hello Listers:
Any concerns/questions, please contact:
COE-admin(a)rootsweb.com.
To subscribe/unsubscribe:
COE-request(a)rootsweb.com.
To subscribe in Digest mode:
COE-D-request(a)rootsweb.com.
To send a message/post to the List:
COE(a)rootsweb.com.
>>>>>> FYI Only <<<<<<
Mode = manner/method/way.
There are two modes in which to subscribe:
1. The -L mode; the "regular" mode now. All regular
subscribers receive posts/messages made to
the list as separate/individual emails.
2. The -D mode; the "digest" mode now. All digest
subscribers receive posts/messages made to
the list as one BIG email.
If you previously subscribed to the list in both
-L and -D modes using the same email address, you
will find that you are *no longer* subscribed in
Digest mode.
The new software doesn't permit the same address
to be subscribed in both -L and -D modes.
Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you
will need to subscribe to the Digest using a different
email address.
Please give me a contact should anyone need further
elaboration.
Regards,

Of course. use whatever you want.
Mum said uncle Terry (another Victor Frank) emigrated to Australia, his father was Samuel. I don't know when he died, but is seems Kate has gone back to the name Coe. Mum would love the photo of your dad and uncle Dick, if that is possible. I've asked mum to write down all she can remember about your Dad and his family, in case there is anything you don't know.

Thank you again, the Coe Family tree is the better one, I found your family tree on ancestry, I noticed Kate Beckett married a Sam Shawl, I think I know someone with that surname living in Hull, where I live, is it okay to use any photos on my tree?

Yes, I believe Kate lived until she was 103, died in 1974, Olive died 2 years later in 1976, she was 68, you can look at any of my family trees and I received your tree on Word, but if you have it on here, I would like to see it, also any more photos you may have, I really am interested in family history.

Think I have made my tree public and I don't think the living reatives are shown on it, so if you want any of that info. please tell me. I would be interested in your living relatives too - if you don't think they'd mind.
Did Kate live to be 103? What love to know a bit more about her later years. My dad taped my nan(Ruby)speaknig about her past. She remembers her dad(Stpehens) funeral and that Kate tried to keep make money doing laundrey for other people. Sadly, Kate and the children ended up in the workhouse at Rollesby. My nan(Ruby) and her sister Elsie were fostered out at Caistor(there in 1911 census) and Tom and Dick were sent to another home. Think I have the 1911 census for Kate and Olive(she may have been in service by then). If I have I will sent it on to you. My nan said Kate had a lovely singing voice and used to sing to the fisherman in the pubs!

Very good to hear from you - mum is very excited, though obviously sad to hear about the death of your dad. My nan (Ruby) was Olive's older sister.I'm not sure whether Stephen was her father or not. . I think Pip came to stay at mum's house for a while. They all lost contact after the war. Although Mum remembers Eileen as a 'little tot'
Can you view my tree? If you send me your email address, I will send you some photos and other bits and pieces you may find interesting. I would love to show mum some of your phtos too. The family history stopped at Susan Coe - I've had real trouble with her!! Stephen Coe was known as Stephen Guymer for part of his life too, which was very confusing.

Was Olive known as Dolly? My mum (born Daphne Thrower in 1931) thinks that she was her aunt and that her son (a very similar age to mum)was known as cousin 'Pip' to her. If that sounds right I probably have a lot of useful information for you
