Hi,
I have come across references to Benjamin Coe and others having originally been a member of church on Long Island, and that he and another group left and settled in the area of Hanover, NJ.
Does anybody know where I can find the names of these other members? I'm not descended from Benjamin Coe directly, but am researching a related family whom I believe may have also been on Long Island originally.
Thank You-----

Can anyone help me identify the rest of the people in this photo of Daniel Asbury Coe's family, circa 1913-14?
What I know:
Roy A. Coe (my grandfather) is second from left, top row.
Eula Coe (my grandmother) is second from left, middle row.
My mother, Madelene Coe, is third from left, bottom row.
D.A. Coe is in the center of the top row, just left of the post.
What I'm guessing at:
To the right of D.A., I believe we have Ed Coe, unknown man, Mark Coe and Guy (Robert Guy) Coe
The woman at the far right of the second row appears to be Margaret Coe, wife of Mark Coe and mother of John (Jack) Coe (think he's fourth from the right on the bottom row, leaning back in the shadow)

Dear Carl,
This is WONDERFUL!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the information about Samuel Coe and ancestors ... and thanks also for the photo of D.A and Flora ...
I have several photos of the Coes, including one of all the Coe boys (Roy Allison Coe's generation) as young men, and another of them with their parents as well as their wives and children ... I'll be happy to share once I've mastered the art of scanning ...
Thanks again,
Jan
P.S. Where can I order the Coe book?
Thank you so much for your reply. I have found an article in an Iowa historial write up that said his father's name was John could that have been his middle name?

I am also looking for information on John Coe father to Samuel Coe and have ran into the same brick wall. I know he was a soldier in the revolutionary war but that was as much as I have found.
My records show her name was Becknell and she passed away about 1867. I found this information in an Iowa historical write up on DA Coe who is my husband's great great grandfather and one of Samuel's sons.
I know Samuel started a second family with Elisa in Kansas after Ruth passed.
I can share what I have found if you would like.

Jan,
I was delighted to find your request for information on Samuel Coe and his family. I have posted below a biography from “The Coe Families of Maryland and Virginia” (Columbus, OH: 2002), I:410-411. Additionally, I have attached a photo of Samuel and Ruth (Becknell) Coe’s son Daniel Asbury Coe and his wife and Flora Winsby.
As you can see, Samuel Coe was a sixth generation descendant of the English immigrant Richard Coe (1650-1725) of Charles County, MD. DNA testing indicates that Richard Coe was a descendant of the fourteenth century English Knight Sir John Coe (1340-1415).
53. SAMUEL6 COE (Daniel5 (20), Milburn4, John3, Richard2, Richard1) was born December 10, 1808, in Adams County, OH. Before 1830 he moved to Indiana, where he lived in Clark and Washington Counties. About 1850 he moved to Muscatine County, IA. In the fall of 1852 he moved to Lewis, Cass County, IA, and in April 1853 to Montgomery County, IA, where he was one of the county's more prominent citizens. He lived in Montgomery County for twenty years before eventually moving on to Jewell County, KS. He died March 19, 1906, at Cawker City, KS. According to the Cawker City Public Record, the city's weekly newspaper, “Mr. Coe was one who was to take part in the violin contest which was recently postponed on account of sickness in the neighborhood. He was adept as a fiddler and always in demand for dances.” Burial was at Granite Creek Cemetery, Cawker City.
He married (1) August 16, 1846, in Washington County, IN, Ruth Becknell, born September 10, 1826, near Albany, IN, died April 9, 1867, daughter of William Becknell, a native of Ohio. Burial was at St. Clair Cemetery, Red Oak, IA. He married (2) July 7, 1868, in Montgomery County, IA, Ellen R. Hubbard; (3) May 28, 1871, in Montgomery County, Eliza Akers, born November 11, 1835, in NY, died August 21, 1916, at Cawker City, KS, daughter of Edward Akers. Burial was at Granite Creek Cemetery.
Children:
1. Esther Ann, b. Feb. 1, 1850.
2. DANIEL ASBURY, b. March 4, 1852, in Scott Co., IA.
3. WILLIAM ARTHUR, b. March 15, 1855, in IA.
4. JAMES BUCHANAN, b. Nov. 3, 1859, in IA.
5. Elvira Elizabeth, b. July 5, 1861.
6. SAMUEL EDWARD, b. Jan. 2, 1864, at Red Oak, IA.
7. Ruth Ann ``Ora,'' b. Feb. 8, 1872, in Montgomery Co., IA.
8. Ruby Melissa ``Liss,'' b. Sept. 30, 1873.
9. Mary Jane, b. Feb. 12, 1875, at Athens, KS.
10. JOHN W., b. Dec. 10, 1879, in KS.
I hope this is helpful.

Hi there, I just wanted to let anyone looking for information on the Coe family line to take a look at a site I've had up for a number of years, but until now I've never really done much with it.
It's www.coe-family.com. I originally setup the site for the Coe Family Reunion that is held here in Connecticut every year, but since then it's started to grow and expand.
The latest thing that I placed on the site is a set of forums/area for discussions on the family, the reunions, and also I've included some old historical family photos. The pictures I've posted have come from the Coe Family farm in Connectiut, some dating back to the late 1800's. I've also posted some other pictures that other people have sent me over the years.
In addition, my mother and other members of our family line have traced our genealogy back to the 1500's when Robert Coe came over from England, so if your looking for information on our line, you can contact the registered person in those forums by the name of Loraine.

Aaron, I found my great-grandmother's death obit. In summary: Oldest living native of Redlands. Mrs. Marania Jubera was born in San Timoteo Canyon 81 years ago. She died 1948. Among the last of the pioneer Albanez family. Daughter of Francisco Albanez, pioneer grain and livestock farmer.
Her mother was Maria Antonio Ybarra, born in the frontier town of Los Angeles.
Her husband was Angel L. Jubero (Wherever last letter of his name with "o", but defines her name with an "a", thats how the newspaper wrote the article, we've always stated it as Jubera).
Her surviving children, Mrs. Joe Amaral of Colton. Andy Jubero and Mrs. Vera Coe (my grandmother) of Redlands and Mrs. Grace Sweeney of San Timeteo canyon. She left 16 granchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
So to summerize the children of Maranio Albanez Jubera and Angel L. Jubero: Joe (Joseph Jubera). Andy (Andrew?) Jubero, Vera Jubera and Grace Jubera.
Vera had 4 children, 3 girls, Norma Jean, Genevive (msp?), (right now ? can't remember, sorry) and one boy, Carlos Williamson Coe (my father), only one is living of the four in Las Vegas.
Haven't made it to the storage to get my written down family tree.

Aaron, I am very interested in seeing what you have posted.
My grandmother's maiden name was Vera Jubera. Her mother's maiden name (I believe) was Albanez. Vera's son, Carlos Williamson Coe is my father.
Most of my information came from this website and from San Bruno national registry, some from family obit newspapers and I went to Redland's cemetary.
I am very interested in knowing more about the Jubera and Albanez side. Thanks

I am looking for information about Ruth Becknell (or Bicknell) and Samuel Coe, married about August 16, 1846, in Brown Township, Washington County, Indiana.
Ruth was born about 1826 in Indiana, possibly Delaware County.
Samuel was born about about December 10, 1808, in Ohio.
Ruth's father was William Becknell/Bicknell, possibly born in Tennessee. William was married about 1825 in Indiana; wife's given name possibly Mary, born NC or SC.
Samuel's father was John Coe, born in Virginia or Ohio; mother unknown
After their wedding in 1846, Samuel and Ruth Coe settled in Iowa. William Becknell and his family followed them soon after, before the 1850 census.
I'm hoping to find more details about Ruth's and Samuel's parents, as this is where I hit a brick wall with my research.
Thank you,
Jan Martin
