Carl Robert Coe, Thank you for responding to my query. I have the information you sent from your book except the address you included that Daniel A lived at in Dennison, Texas in 1876. This is a lead for me although I have searched that county. Have not found him in the census after Indiana nor death or buriel place, although he did die in Dallas. His grave was moved to make a place for a highway, but I have found no record of this. I know his second wife Pheobe A Hanson remarried and had a child after he died, but have no idea who she married. I have only reasently dug my research material out after years of it being put away because of family illness and deaths. I am in the process of putting it all on the computer and it has proven to be quite a job. Would like to find some of Pheobe's family. Thanks again. Charlene

DANIEL A.6 COE (Daniel5 (20), Milburn4, John3, Richard2, Richard1) was born in 1829 in Brown County, OH. Taken to Clark County, IN, with his family before 1830, he purchased 80 acres there in Wood Township, March 10, 1860. Listed as a farmer with assets of $2,500 in the census of 1860, he sold part of his farm to Amanda E. Jackson, December 3, 1870, and the remainder to Zachariah Nicholson, May 9, 1872. He reportedly was later a store owner and saloon keeper in New Albany, IN, where he purchased lot 37 at the rear of Market Street for $1000 from Amanda Jackson, on the same day he sold her his farm. He sold the Market Street property May 28, 1875, to A.S. Beeler for $800 and moved to Colbert, Oklahoma Indian Territory. He lived on Barrett Avenue in Denison, TX, in 1876. In 1884 he was living in Dallas, TX. He reportedly died there in 1890.
At odds with his father-in-law Hurst because of his second marriage, his heirs were all but written out of Hurst's will.
He married (1) October 21, 1852, in Washington County, IN, Anna Mariah Hurst, born July 15, 1827, died February 26, 1874, in Clark County, IN, daughter of John Lyonal and Lucretia F. (Hackley) Hurst of Pekin, IN. Burial was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Wood Township, Clark County. He married (2) July 25, 1875, in Floyd County, IN, Phoebe A. Hanson. The second Mrs. Coe remarried after Mr. Coe's death and lived at Midlothian, TX, in 1913.
Children (b. in Clark County, IN):
130. i. ASHBEL PARSONS WILLARD, b. Feb. 8, 1858.
131. ii.WILLIAM HENRY, b. Jan. 17, 1860.

Coe Family DNA Project Report:
First, my humble apologies for the long delay in posting a report. Much has happened since our last correspondence. Let me try to bring you up-to-date.
Both David Myron Coe and James Carlton Coe's DNA results have posted. They are a perfect DNA match. Both are descendants of John Coe (1712-1790) of Kent and Frederick Counties, MD. And both are just two markers off from Timothy Coe (1631-1689) descendants. As previously explained, the prevailing theory has been that this family is descended from Timothy Coe's sons William or John, who lived in Kent County, DE. Kent County, MD, and Kent County, DE, share a common boundary.
With a two-marker separation, however, it is not certain that the theory is true. Very well could be. I have a fifth cousin in the project who is a three-marker separation from my DNA. To be certain, we need additional John Coe descendants to participate in the project. If one comes in a perfect match to a Timothy Coe descendant, or just one marker off, we can be fairly certain that this family is part of the Timothy Coe family tree.
James Allen Coe's DNA results also recently posted. On a somewhat disappointing note, he does not exactly match anyone in the project. He is most closely aligned with descendants of Robert Coe (1596-1689), Puritan immigrant to Boston in 1634. He is a two-marker distance, however, from the closest Robert Coe descendant, so it is not certain he is part of that family tree. This is disappointing in that Jim has been searching for his roots for 40 years. As more Coes are tested and more results post, perhaps we will yet find Jim's parent family.
Martin Coe's DNA results also posted. He is a descendant of a large Canadian Coe family, who emigrated there in the 1800s from County Wicklow, Ireland. His DNA results indicate that this family most likely originated in East Anglia, England.
Dr. John Emmons Coe's DNA results posted a week ago. A descendant of Robert Coe, Puritan, he is a perfect DNA match with Jack Coe of Nokomis, FL. They are ninth cousins. You can find Dr. Coe's family history here (Emmons Sylvester Coe is his father): http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=carlrcoe&id=I7114

Yesterday some interesting results posted for William Stephen Coe. Steve is a descendant of Samuel Coe (1728-1790) of Calvert County, MD. He was one of the first to sign up for the Coe Family DNA Project and has been waiting patiently for his Haplogroup results to be completed. To our amazement, he is Haplogroup "F," a rare and ancient branch of the human family. Throughout all of Europe the only location where this Haplogroup exists in a measurable population is at the extreme eastern point of the Black Sea in modern Georgia. How Steve's family made it to the Western Shore of Maryland in the early 1700s is not yet understood. Steve's ancestor William Coe of Baltimore was Thomas Jefferson's tailor. William Coe's son Alexander Benson Coe was Clerk of Courts of Baltimore County, MD. Alexander Benson Coe's son Rev. Dr. William Gwynn Coe, DD, was said to be the greatest preacher the Baltimore Conference of the Methodist Church ever produced. For a photo and article, please follo!

We have now identified three North American Coe Haplogroups. Nearly all of the Coes tested to-date are Haplogroup R1b1. R1b is the most common genetic group in Western Europe. Nearly 70% of the inhabitants of Southern England are members of this same DNA family.
The other Coe Haplogroup identified through the Coe Family DNA Project is "I." Descendants of Jabez Coe (1840-1916) of Northamptonshire, England; Knoxville, TN; Upland, PA; and Lodi, CA, are of this Haplogroup. Descendants of Joshua Coe (1760-1800) of Caswell County, NC, and Wilkes County, GA, are members of this same Coe family. Coes belonging to Haplogroup R1b are generally thought to be of Anglo Saxon origins. Coes belonging to Haplogroup I are from possible Viking ancestors. Haplogroup F likely originated in India or the Middle East. For a graphical presentation of the Haplogroups of Europe, please follow this link: http://www.scs.uiuc.edu/~mcdonald/WorldHaplogroupsMaps.pdf
Twenty three hundred people from around the world have now visited the Coe Family DNA Project blog. If you'd like to take a look, please follow this link: http://blog.myspace.com/carlrcoe
We need more Coes from England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, and elsewhere to join the project. If you know someone, please have them follow this link to sign up: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=N65083&special=True
