Would your Susan Coe have had a brother named Sylvester
Weston Coe? The name and age are about right for my
ancestor's sister. They came from Maryland but parts of
the family did end up in Ohio.

I am unaware of any native American connection to this family. Elizabeth Lydia Coe and Delilah Coe, mentioned in the post to which you responded, were first cousins. Their fathers Jesse Coe and William H. Coe were brothers, sons of William and Lavica (Barrett) Coe of Pittsylvania County, VA, and Surry County, NC.
I hope this is helpful.

Hi Laura,
I was delighted to find your request for information. I believe I have corresponded with your husband's grandmother.
As you are no doubt aware Norval Coe was born November 21, 1879, in Fayette County, OH, youngest child of Montgomery and Frances (Paul) Coe. There are many Coe relatives still in and around Washington CH. My father's cousin Dorothy (Coe) Geibelhouse taught school there for many years. My grandfather James Franklin Coe lived in Fayette County before moving here to Marysville about 1915.
A complete history of your husband's family is presented in the book "The Coe Families of Maryland and Virginia." There is a wonderful portrait of Montgomery Coe and Frances Paul in the book. It is one of over a hundred portraits presented. For additional information, please see http://peggysue5.homestead.com/Coe.html
I hope this is helpful.
