Jesse had two brothers and three sisters. His father was Charley E. Coe who was married to Cora J. Wilson in Wayne County Ky. You can verify this through the 1920 census. Hope this helps. I don't know what happen to them or who the sisters married.

Stephen,
I can't tell you how delighted I was to find your post. I carried on family correspondence with your father Marvin Howard Coe over the course of many years. I have one of your brother John Daniel Coe's albums. The last I knew you were practicing law in Atlanta.
Your father may have told you about the book "The Coe Families of Maryland and Virginia." An entire chapter is dedicated to your family titled "Francis Peter Coe of Virginia." The book won the 2002 Parker Prize for the best published work on Maryland family history. For additional information, please see http://peggysue5.homestead.com/Coe.html
You will find the information presented in the book fascinating. I would very much like to hear back from you.

Carl,
In the past you have given me some valuable information about Benjamin F. Coe and his wife Alice Griffin Coe that has helped me a great deal in my search for the family of my Grandfather Thomas Griffin. I just wanted you to know what I've discovered about Benjamin's mother, Josephine P. Haile, wife of Charles Matthew Coe. I realize that you are mainly concerned with your Coe Family and not the family a wife of a Coe, however, thought some of what I've found might be of help to one of the Coe Family researchers.
When I first saw that Josephine's maiden name was "Haile" I thought that someday I'd discover how/IF she was connected to my Great Grandmother's "Hale" family and I finally have been able to make the connection back as follows:
_________
9. Benjamin F. Coe b. Nov 1873 in Cooke Co. TX
Alice Griffin b. MO
8. Father Charles M. Coe 2 JAN 1847 Mother Josephine P. Haile b: 4 SEP 1853 in Stone County, Missouri
7. Father: Mead James HAILE b: ABT 1811 in , Bedford, TN Mother: Livy Ann CAVIN b: ABT 1817 in ,,TN
6. Father: Mead HAILE b: ABT 1774 in , Bedford, VA Mother: Betsey JACKSON b: ABT 1774
5. Father: John HAILE b: 13 Sep 1743 in , Baltimore, MD - brother to Shadrack Hale, Sr. B. 1735 Mother: Nancy Ann OVERSTREET b: ABT 1748
4. Father: Nicholas HAILE III b: 2 Jan 1701 in , Baltimore, MD father to Shadrack, Sr & John Haile Mother: Ann LONG b: ABT 1703 in , Baltimore, MD
3. Father: Nicholas HAILE II b: ABT 1656 in , Lancaster, VA Mother: Frances GARRETT b: ABT 1670 in St. Paul's Parrish, Baltimore, MD
2. Father: Nicholas HAILE Sr b: ABT 1628 in , Kent, England Mother: Mary TRAVIS b: ABT 1634 in Tidewater, Lancaster, VA
1. Father: George HAILE b: ABT 1604 in, England
______
In other words, Josephine P. Haile Coe descends from John Hale-Haile s/o Nicholas Hale & Ann Long and
Olivia Sumpter Morrison Griffin descends from Shadrack Hale, Sr. a brother of John Hale-Haile, also a s/o Nicholas Hale and Ann Long..................so Benjamin Coe was actually a 'many generations before "Cousin" to Olivia Morrison Griffin
and
apparently Benjamin F. Coe's wife Alice Griffin was some kind of "Cousin" to Thomas Griffin, husband of Olivia Morrison Griffin.............therefore my Mother Roxie Griffin Adair was a "Double Cousin" of both Benjamin Coe and his wife Alice Griffin Coe...............and of course I've no idea if Olivia and Ben Coe knew of this kinship or not, but I'll just bet that Grandmother Olivia knew of some kinship. I will continue to search to see if I can ever find the family of Alice & Jeff Griffin and Thomas Griffin to see how/IF he was a cousin to Alice Griffin as my mother said was the case.
I have been searching the 1880 Fed. Census to see if I could find a brother Jeff & sister Alice in some Griffin family and did find one set that may/may NOT be the right one. I found in Scott, Taney Co, Missouri a Washington Taylor age 27, his wife Susan GRIFFIN age 20, their 2 year old son & Jeffersen age 11, Alice age 7 & a William Griffin age 4. The birth years for Jeff & Alice were the same as I found later in OK but in 1880 this Alice said b. MS, not MO............however, Taney Co. MO. is very near the MS border. I'll just keep searching.
Again, I do so appreciate all the Coe Family information you have shared with me and if I can ever find the right Proof about Ben's wife Alice, I will let me you in case it would help any of your family researchers.

Christina,
I also have Coes in my line including Frank (Benjamin Franklin), and George (George Washington) both of whom are said to have ridden with Billy the Kid. George wrote a book about their adventures, as did a son of Frank's. Frank was born in Moundsville, WV, and I believe George was also. I have more on these cousins, but will have to search. I would like any information you could send me, if you are willing.
Let me know if you need more of the information I have. Did you know that Charlie Sheen's character in Young Guns was loosely based on Frank Coe?
Thanks in advance,
Vicki

I may be able to get you some info on Frank and Melvin. They are ancestors of mine...and believe it or not, there is a belief in my family that Billy the Kid is also related. We have some pictures that are just unbelievable...Anyway, my grandma has all that stuff. She's a Wright, but my great-grandma's maiden name was Coe.
There's a town in NM named Glencoe, which was established by ancestors...

Hello everyone. I am seeking information on the descendants of True and Lillian Coe. They married circa 1912, and may have lived in or near Gonzales Co., Texas. Lillian died in 1980 in El Paso Co., Texas. She had two siblings, Arion Frank Kirkland, and Florence "Flossie" Kirkland. Both siblings moved further out west, my direct line being through Arion Frank. If anyone has any information on this family, it would be appreciated. As always, what information I have is for all to share as well. Thanks so much. Nan
