Kay,
"Chronicles of the Coe Colony" is one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. I have a typed manuscript from the library in Glasgow, KY. It would make an interesting movie.
There is a bit of history on the Cumberland County black Coe family in William Lynnwood Montell's "The Saga of Coe Ridge" (Knoxville, TN: University of Tennessee Press, 1970). These Coes descend from two slaves John Coe brought with him from North Carolina when he settled in Cumberland
County in 1809.
Additionally, it might be interesting to learn that each Memorial Day descendants gather at the site of the demised Coe Town on Coe Ridge to renew family ties. There are usually hundreds in attendance. The 2001 reunion made the local newspapers with photos and some history. For information please contact Rebecca Tooley, 2238 Port Oliver Road, Scottsville, KY 42164 graystoke1(a)hotmail.com
I hope this is helpful.

I am reading a book about the Coe family in Pea Ridge Kentucky. Written by Samuel Coe in 1930. Who lived in Kansas City, KS at time of publication. I am a descendent of Othie Lee Coe. If you have any info about this book please email me at bktaylor90061(a)yahoo.com.\\\
Thank you
Ray,
Delighted to hear from you. Are you familiar with the book "The Coe
Families of Maryland and Virginia"? The book contains a chapter on the
family of Samuel Coe of Wayne County, KY. Please see
http://peggysue5.homestead.com/Coe.html
An interesting document was recorded in Wayne County, Oct. 11, 1818, naming
Samuel Coe's mother and siblings. It helped unravel the mystery of his
family.
I would be delighted to hear back from you. Are you related to this family?
