Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
For those that do not know about this new site it is great! You can search all the messages on
GenForum and FamilyHistory instantly, upload your gedcom and it will match it to all the other files
in their database with what they call "smart matches". I put my gedcom on 24 hours ago and have
already heard from others researching some of the same lines. They have a promise not to sell our
information or give it out to any other site for profit. I found it because of my Ellis group so I get
nothing for passing the word. It's one of the fastest growing sites I have seen, 20 more gedcoms
have been added since I've put mine on. Joyce

Charlie Coe
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Charlie Coe, a lifelong amateur golfer who
played in the Masters 19 times and tied for second in 1961, died Wednesday
night in his sleep. He was 77.
Although Coe said he never considered turning professional, he scored three
top-10 finishes at the Masters as an amateur. In 1961, he tied for second
with
Arnold Palmer and nearly forced a playoff with eventual champion Gary
Player.
He won the U.S. Amateur in 1949 and 1958, and was runner-up to Jack
Nicklaus in 1959. Coe was a seven-time member of the Walker Cup team,
twice serving as captain.
Coe, an Augusta National Golf Club member, holds almost every Masters
record, including top-10 finishes (three).

Dear Coe Researchers,
This is a bit of a round about question. I am looking for a Ruth Coe who
(reported in the Amos Carpenter book, pub about 1906) married a John
Carpenter in (probably) Jamaica, NY, (Long Island).
I have not been able to confirm that marriage. The story goes that they had
children and moved to Orange Co. NY (dates not clear). Anyway after the
death of John Carpenter she is reported to have married a "Mr. Thurston." I
have been unable to find any info that supports or denies this.
So, the son, MOSES CARPENTER, b ab. 1750 had a daughter, Elizabeth Runyon
Carpenter b about 1775 who married James Wisner, Orange Co. NY 1788.
CARPENTERS and WISNERS moved to Onondaga Co. area about 1793. In about 1809
WISNERS became the guardians of one MILES CAMP, apparently the son of MILES
CAMP.
Wallowing around I have found that there was a CAMP/COE marriage in CT. Now
wonder if these are related to the folks below? Early settlers in VT.

Here is an additional obituary for Orson Edward Coe, Sr. Carl Robert Coe
describes Orson's Coe lineage:
"The Coe families of Oakland County, MI, descend from John Coe who
immigrated in 1640 from County Suffolk, England, to Stamford, CT. An
exception was Oakland County Tax Assessor Alexander Benson Coe, Jr., who
was born April 21, 1847, in Baltimore, MD, son of Baltimore Clerk of Courts
Alexander Benson Coe and Margaret Ellen Thompson. That family was
descended from Samuel Coe of Calvert County, MD. However, Alexander Benson
Coe's son Charles Eugene Coe, born October 18, 1879, in Oakland County,
married November 26, 1902, in Oakland County, Eloise Edith Coe, born July
30, 1880, daughter of George Carson and Lovina (Orr) Coe of the other Coe
