Cliff,
Yes, Phillip Haddox Coe, who was born January 10, 1800, in Georgia, son of
Moses and Rachel (Coe) Haddox. After being accussed of the February 16,
1829, murder of Jethro Jackson in Upson County, GA, he added his mother's
maiden name to his own and fled to Texas. He settled first at Tiger's
Point on the Brazos River, Washington County, where he established himself
as Phillip "Old Tiger" Coe. He later settled in the Coe Valley of Ganzales
County, where he homesteaded 4,446 acres of land under Mexican and Spanish
Titles, May 4, 1831.
A delegate to the Texas Consultation in 1835, he was a member of the
General Council of the Provisional Government which met at San Felipe, Nov.
3 to Nov. 14, 1835. He was with Sidney Sherman's Second Regiment that was
sent to assist at the Alamo and was commander of one of the baggage trains
at San Jacinto, April 21, 1836.
He was murdered by neighbor John Oliver during a poker game in a Gonzales
saloon Dec. 6, 1852. His son Phillip Houston Coe, owner of the Bull's Head
Saloon in Abilene, KS, was the last person killed by Wild Bill Hickok
before his own demise at the hands of Jack McCall, Aug.12, 1876.
Hope this helps.
Carl Robert Coe

Contact the Coe College Bookstore. They have a short history about Daniel Coe.
He never saw Cedar Rapids, Ia. Donated the money and never saw the school
that bears his name.
He later moved from New York to Alabama.
Harris Coe

Hi, I am looking for any information in Daniel Coe. What I do know is
that he was from NY, but I have no dates. He also dontated money for

years ago, but no luck.
Below is the some of my Coe Family that I haev info on.

Terry,
Nice to hear from you. It's always a pleasure to find someone researching
the Coe family.
Rachel Elizabeth Fox was born in 1835, died before Sept. 25, 1866, in Polk
County, TN, m. William Newton Coe, b. Feb. 26, 1836, in Polk County, d.
March 26, 1910, at Wetmore, TN, son of Vincent and Sarah Coe.
Rachel Elizabeth (Fox) Coe was a daughter of Abraham and Caroline (Dickey)
Fox. She was buried at Dickey Cemetery in Polk County, TN, as were her sons
William D. Coe and Aaron "Tug" Coe. Her son James Wesley Coe, b. April 11,
1856, in Polk County, TN, died Nov. 23, 1918, is buried at Friendship
Church Cemetery, Linsdale, TN.
Do you have information on Martha E. Fox, b. March 1855, who married
William Newton Coe's brother James Riley Coe, b. Jan. 1857? Was she a
sister or niece of Rachel's?
I hope this is helpful.

Hello Carl,
This is a real pleasure to be in contact with you! You have confirmed much of
the info that I have on Rachel Fox. You have also added a lot of info I
didn't have as you can see by my report below. Thank you so much.
Yes, I do have information on Martha Fox niece of Rachel. I have highlighted
the info I have on her below in my Descendants of Abraham Fox, Jr. report.
Do you have any further information on the Fox family? Especially information
on Abraham Sr.? Do you know where this family migration from? We believe we
have found Abraham Sr. in Adair Co., Kentucky.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you again! It is always great to
find a new cousin no matter how distant :-)
Take care,
Terry

digging. I had received my only information from a Snow descendent and I
even this early in the game for me couldn't understand how did someone come
from Mississippi when clearly they're in TN ??? So thanks again guys and
I'd love to continue to hear from both of you. My hats off to you and bow
to your logic. I will continue to share on the web site any info can dig up
on this bunch.. By the way Carl you spoke of speaking with relatives so
does anyone have any family Bibles??? If they're listed on paupers records
were they also illiterate maybe explaining the lack of records? Let me know
guys.
Regards
Linda Kent

Hello All,
This is my second message about Stephen Coe and my Fox connection. I changed
email address and may have lost a message or two in the process.
I think I may have found four new cousins with my link with Stephen is through
William Newton Coe and Rachel Elizabeth Fox who is the daughter of Abraham Fox
(Jr). I am his 4th great-grandniece.
Carl is it possible that you have more information on Abraham and his family?
Our Fox family researchers have been looking for years to know when and where
Abraham's father and my 5th great-grandfather Abraham Sr., born. His wife's
name is Elizabeth her maiden name and other information is unknown.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you!
Take care,
Terry (Fox) Latey

Hello Carl,
Talk about small world, I live in Lake County Ohio ! ! !
Thank you very much for the information. Are you able to identify any of
the locations in NY where the family lived. It could give me starting
points for locating his wife's family.
Abasin, my thanks. Les Roberts

Les,
Pulaski Coe was a son of Anson Coe, who may have been born May 27, 1801, at
Burke, VT. Pulaski was one of at least eight brothers. The others were
John, b. 1833; Napoleon, b. 1834; Chester, b. 1836 in OH; Collin, b. 1838
in OH; Wallace, b. 1839, in OH; Holloway, b. 1842 in NY; Wesley, b. 1846 in
NY. There may have been an older brother Hollis Coe, b. 1830, who served
with Company I, Vermont Volunteers, GAR, during the Civil War.
The family lived in Madison Township, Lake County, OH, in 1850.
I hope this is helpful.
Carl Robert Coe

Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Les Roberts
