Dear Phoebe,
I am interested in Coes Wrench Co. I believe you mean Worcester (pronounced
wusster), Ma. Please let me know what other information you have on this. I
am
researching Abigail COE (daughter of Robert COE) who married William FURMAN
in
1739 in Newtown, LI, NY. and Phoebe COE, b. 1772 and married Aaron FURMAN
about1792, also Newtown, LI, NY. Thank you.
Stephen >>
Dear Stephen,
Unfortunately I have no further information on the wrench company or the Coes.
I just thought is was interesting to buy the wrenches! I know that Robert Coe
had sons who did not go to NY, so guess that the co. is from those
descendants.
I am aware of the Furman name above.
The AB Carpenter book states that John Carpenter married Ruth Coe in 1735 and
one of their sons was my ancestor Moses Carpenter. He further states that
Ruth married a Mr. Thurston after John Carpenter died and she must have taken
the family records with here.
There were Coes in Orange Co became Rockland at that time, but I have not made
any connection. The only connecting link I can see (now) is there was a Coe
Gale and the Gales married into the Carpenter family.
I have not found a connection with the Thurston family and have wondered if he
meant Firman, or what??? I see quite a few Firmans, Furmans in NJ. There
was also a Moses Higby in Or. Co. and they are related to the Coes.
One of the Coes also was in Rye NY. I had the NY wills CD, but seem to have
misplaced it. I also copied some of the Coe wills.
My biggest problem , is a common problem, shortage of time! I was out of
state for 4 months this year plus had a sick husband when here. No
Christmas!!
I am going to print and keep you e-mail with my Coe files and when I get back
to "organizing" them, I can check deeper.
Regards, Phoebe
Dear Stephen, Have you ever checked with the Sterling, Denton, and Seaman
families. My Samuel Coe married Phobe Denton and she relates back to these
families. They have done some research on the Robert Coe family.Hope this
helps a little. Fran (Lake) King

Subject: [COE-L] Thomas J. Coe ca. 1840's 1870's at Helms Landing or
Creelboro KY
Searching for information on my GGrandfather, Thomas J. Coe, his Wife , his
ancestors and/or his siblings.
Thomas lived on or near the Cumberland River, at or near the communities of
Helms Landing (where my Gfather George Henry Coe was b. 2-7-1874) and
Creelsboro (where my Father Joseph Beckham Coe was b.2-14-1904).
I believe he lived in close proximity to his brother John William Coe,
perhaps in the area along Coe Creek on the west/north bank of the river.
This would be in Russell County which was formed in 1825 from portions of
Adair, Cumberland & Wayne Counties which are presently west, southwest &
east of Russell.
Any and all information will be appreciated.
Thanks,
George J. Coe

I see lots of east coast and Southern Coes, but who among us has
background on Canadian or west coast US Coes? My Coe clan hails from
Alberta and BC in Canada; Washington, and California in the states.
Happy to hear from you, especially if the connection can be made with
earlier Coes at Suffolk and Ely, Cambridgeshire, England areas. Bob
Coe.
Hi Merle, Bob Coe, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, here. Glancing through
your American COE lineage I noted your John COE was from Suffolk,
England. Although there is a separation of over a century between your
JC and my ancestor, Daniel COE, born about 1807 at Wickhambrook,
Suffolk, I wonder if there couldn't be a link somewhere. Not a big
traveller, our Dan was born, lived, died at Wickhambrook, Ely and
Prickwillow in Cambridgeshire, all within a couple of dozen miles of
each other. We've not been able to prove parentage or ancestry before
him. There may not have been that many Coes throughout west Suffolk,
so, comes the question, could John's descendents include male lineage
resident at Wickhambrook or Bury St. Edmunds area?

Dear Coes,
I ran across several "pipe" wrenches or maybe they are called "monkey"
wrenches that were stamped, "Coes Wrench Co Worchester" and "Mechanical
Improved January _ 18-- or 1902." Not sure of the date. I assume Worchester,
MA, but don't know.
Does anyone know or care who these Coes may have been??
Phoebe
I forgot to add most of this data came from the Descendants of John
Coe and We have not tried to Confirm or deny these "facts". Use the
data in good faith, but do not accept it as gospel.

Hi GR511,
Sure would appreciate knowing your name. Makes it a lot nicer for
relating to. If you let me know what program you are using to enter
your data, I will be able to send you a gedcom of the Coe info I have.
If you don't know how to use gedcom, I can help you there too. The
source of our info came from the book Descendants of John COE. Below
is a copy of my COE source list. I am sorry, I have no further info at
this time on Betsy or her husband Samuel. You have more info on them
than I do. How are you related to the COON's? I hope this helps some.
