I'm looking for descendants of a Charles COLE, b. abt 1844 in TN, probably
in Obion Co. as he appears on the census there in 1850 and I know the
family was in the area by 1840. He homesteaded northeast of Oklahoma City
when the Unassigned Lands were opened in 1889, got his land patent in 1894,
but apparently died before 1900.
He supposedly had at least three children by his first wife (name unknown):
Emerson, Arley, and Lou.
Two children by his second wife (name unknown): Clide or Clyde and Dadrill.
Two children by his third wife, Laura: Hattie or Hettie, and Fred.
He was my gggrandfather's first cousin. I have information to share about
other family members, but know relatively little about Charles' line.

I was just told that a distant cousin believes that the father of my
Phillip COLE is Benjamin. Benjamin would have been in KY and was probably
a Revolutionary War veteran. Phillip was married in 1808 in Adams County,
OH and died after 1870 in Grant County, IN. Any information would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Fellow Rooters,
Please let's remember not to send messages all in capitol letters. I find
it very hard to read & for genealogy purposes only surnames should be
capitolized.
(Sorry to send this to the list, but my eyes insisted.)

This line has me wondering if perhaps I have some eroneous information... or
if my COLE line somehow fits in with this one. ALL HELP WELCOME!
I have Sara COLE b 1818 btb in PA or NY>m. 1836> William S GIFFORD b 14 Dec
1816 in Wooster Oswego NY. This family ended up in the northeast corner of
OH (Lake Co) in the land reserved by CT for their westward expansion.
Family has always said Sara's father was George COLE & mother was Charity
VROMAN. With these COLEs having a Sara also I'm speculating about the
possibility of one Sara being neice, child, etc of the other.
Any ideas? Hints?

My gggrandfather had a brother, John Mexico Cole, b. Jan 16, 1838 and d.
Oct 8, 1840. Family lore has it that his middle name was in honor of an
uncle, Mexico COLE, born 1811 in TN, died 1869 in Pemiscot, Co. MO.
This isn't exactly a common name. If you have a Mexico COLE somewhere in
your family tree -- even if it's not this particular one -- I'd like to
compare notes.

Is anyone else researching the COLE cousins who settled in central Oklahoma
when the Unassigned Lands were opened in 1889? If so, I'd like to compare
notes. The following are a few of the people in my database:
My own gggrandparents, William A. and Ellen Crockett COLE, homesteaded in
Deep Fork Township with their four youngest children:
Emma Dick COLE (died in infancy)
Dora Edwina COLE (m. Charles Long & remained in Kansas)
Otho M. COLE (m. Anna Milligan in Oklahoma)
Albert Grant COLE (m. Ida Nevada Ecker in Oklahoma)
Ona T. COLE (m. Homer Collins in Oklahoma)
William Alonzo COLE (m. Anna Hennessey in Oklahoma)
Deep Fork Township is in the northeastern portion of present-day Oklahoma
County. I have information on some of the other COLEs who homesteaded
there: Joseph D., William, Charles and Emerson COLE.
More came when the neighboring Iowa Lands were opened in 1891. In Luther
Township, in addition to my own greatgrandfather, O.M. COLE, I have Tolbert
F. and James S. as homesteaders and A.E. "Ed" and John O. "Kooch" COLE as
early settlers. And in neighboring Logan County, I have an M. E. COLE whom
I believe ties into the rest of this family but am not sure how.
This list is short because I don't want to subject the listserver to
handling extensive charts. I do have information about the families of
many of these. If you recognize either names or places, please get in
touch with me.
