I had an uncle who was named Ardis Coe Cooper. There were Coe's and
Cooper's in SC. Is there a possible tie in there? My uncle thought he
was named Coe meaning oak for barrel and Cooper's were supposedly
barrel-makers. Cooper's were barrell makers at one time, but not any we
know of in our family history so far. Most of the Cooper's were
shoemakers and blacksmith's by trade. What about the Coes? What kind of
trade did they have? Can anyone help me with this. Cooper's were big on
naming their children after family and preachers.
I'm looking for Andrew's place of birth in Europe and the Surname of his
wife. Many say it is Spangler but noone has proven that. The assumption is
based on baptism witnesses.

Julie thank you so much for the help, but I still trying to get the maiden
name of my grand mother Edna Coe. My grandfather Frank (Francis) Coe died
about 1937, place unknown. Our library doesn't have a lot of information on
the Oklahoma area. I wish I could be some help to you , but have had my share
of troubles finding information on this branch of the family Good Luck Julie
sorry I could not be of any help. Rick
I don't know anything about my grandfather Frank (Francis) Coe's family. I
have been told by my mother that he died about 1937, place unknown. He was a
minor league baseball umpire and that he had one son, Jimmy Coe living
somewhere in California. My mother is next, her name is Francis, born 18
October 1925 in Holdenville Oklahoma, and she died in Odessa, Texas on 29
September 1994. He also had two daughters living in Texas named Mary and Pat.
and a daughter in Oklahoma named Betty. My grandmother's name was Edna, don't
know her maiden name. I don't think these names will make a match, but thanks
for your interest. Good Luck Rick

COE YEAR LOCATION is our format (change it to specifics)
actual year & location per 1st event needs to be replaced in the
Subject line as follows:
COE (or a variant SURNAME) is always the FIRST word
the 2nd word may be a first name of the 1st key person described
-or you may go on to just give a key YEAR of 1st person or event
described in the body of the message
Finally also include a LOCATION for that person / event
for example
COLE, Isaac - born 1690 - Glasgow, SCOTLAND
*************** THEN you e-mail it to the ADDRESS:
COE-L(a)rootsweb.com
with details in the body of the message per the family
history connected to the topic of this list in terms of what the Subject
is - you may include detail of that person, their family, connections
and collaterals, spouses, kids, ancestors, events, name
spellings and origins, stories of places with family name, variant
spelling, census data, wills, deed, births, marriages, deaths, obit
places lived, occupations, education, personalities, biographies on
topic, books, reunions, genetics (e.g. twins etc) military service,
travels, migrations, adoptions, neighbors, churches, cemeteries, or
other items listowner approves per guideline; Stay on topic of list
ask sundance(a)neosoft.com Do not send attachments. We will help-
just ask if you need clarification - please share data, queries and
credit sources - please privately tell HH of any concerns, recruits.
If you list any URL please excerpt ON TOPIC details explicitly
connected in your excerpt here per the focus of this list. Do not
post solicitations for other off topic lists items or lost people -
ask the listowner privately if you lose mail or have admin problems
If a prior poster did not follow these directions send them a copy.
& CHANGE your Subject line so the FIRST word begins with a SURNAME.
