Seeking info on Peter Cole b. July 8, 1866 in IN. Died Jan 3, 1957.
Married Sarah Elizabeth Phillips June 13, 1903 in Fayetteville, AR. At
the time of the marriage, Peter & Sarah were both living in Inola,
Indian Territory (OK). They had 2 children Babe Luella b. 10/18/1904 in
Collinsville, OK & John Cole b. 10/31/1906 also in Collinsville, OK.
Peter owned a saloon in OK and Sarah's mother Eda handled the finances
for him. Peter told his granddaughters (John's children) that his
mother was a Native American and that his mother died when he was really
young. He ran away from his father when he was a kid, and went to live
with his mother's people. When Peter was older, he said that he had
been given the surname Cole by a woman that he'd lived with.
If anyone knows anything about this Cole story, please contact me.
Thanks,
Sandy
The DEWEY (1898) genealogy states that Benjamin COLE was "a Revolutionary soldier at Lexington and Trenton, and on Gen. Washington's staff." He had a daughter Polly COLE, b. 11 Feb 1788, place unknown; d. 23 Sep 1859, place unknown; m. at Hebron, Washington Co., NY on 25 Feb 1808, David DEWEY, son of Eleazer and Freelove (BOORN) DEWEY. I am seeking the career and ancestry of Benjamin COLE.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If you have your ancestors in a genealogy program (such as Family Tree
Maker, Personal Ancestral File, etc.), you can create a GEDCOM file to
exchange data with others researching the same surname(s). You might want

Does anyone have any information on the origins of JOSEPH COLE born between 1695-1698? In 1722/23, when he married Rebecca Allin in Rehoboth at the Newman Church, he "was of Rehoboth". He died the following year leaving an only son, William. His widow then married Tom Hill, a widower and they moved to North Kingstown, RI.
William grew up in Rehoboth, possibly with his grandparents. He later married Molly Greenwood, the daughter of Rev. John Greenwood.
Both William and Joseph are buried in Newman Cemetery. I have not been able to trace Joseph's origins. The info on the burial marker should be correct, and places his birth 1695-1698[ it is worn and difficult to read].
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Gail Moran

WEBSTER, Edward James -1900s - Whetzel Co West Virginia USA
COEN -1800s -Whetzel County, Jacksonburg, West Virginia USA from
Christine Webster92(a)aol.com researching COEN family. My goal is to
produce a country of origin for the COENs. We are related to them
through Estella Thelma Mae COEN born Oct. 11,1906 Whetzel County,
Jacksonburg, West Virginia, USA. She eloped with Edward James WEBSTER.
Name changes involve the surname SANFORD. The first name was or sounded
like SAFFRINKO, the second - Sanford by which this man had a wife (Dora)
and four children (Edward, David, Henry and Izetta), the third known
name and the one by which this man seems to be buried is
SILVER, _______ . I don't have a first name for him.
This mystery "S" man had good reasons for hiding. One reason was his
Jewish heritage; family legend says that he was a jew hailing from white
Russia. Allegedly, his next reason is a bit of an embarassment, -
allegedly he faked a suicide so that his wife could collect the
insurance money. No, it didn't work. Someone found him in Seattle
washing dishes at a small resteraunt. Instead of facing problems he
hid even deeper and somehow got to CA with a different name.
The only family member who can confirm the burial site is now elderly
> How do we prove or disprove the family stories? Thanks, Christine

Is anyone else on this list descended from the Stephen COLE and Sarah
Elizabeth CONGER, who lived in NC in the late 1700s? She sometimes appears
as simply "Sarah", sometimes as just "Elizabeth", and sometimes as Sarah
Elizabeth.
I'm being deliberately vague -- I don't want anyone to dismiss my question
because I may have a date that's "off" by a few years -- but I think we're
on the verge of a breakthrough. This month I've corresponded with three
who working with this line. I think I exchanged a few messages with a
fourth, earlier this summer. While I'm going through my files to find a
name & address, I thought a general plea might turn up still others.
Stephen and Sarah had a large family -- best guess to date is 10
children....
If these names sound familiar and you haven't heard from me in the past
couple of weeks -- PLEASE write to me off-list.

Subject: For the Internet Challenged
Just a thought. If you do NOT have access to the internet, mention that in
your queries. We (internet users) assume EVERYONE is on the net. If you
are an email only subscriber, let us know and we won't tell you to check a
website.
Also let us know if you CAN'T receive attachments. Some internet providers
and email clients can't. The easiest way to send someone a tree or a
document is to attach to personal email (not to the list) and then send.
This won't work if they can't receive attachments.
Teamwork is the best way to research. Sharing what we have not only saves
time, but often gives us the missing piece of the puzzle. Happy computing
and keep on rooting!

If you haven't seen this book, you might want to find it on interlibrary
loan. Several libraries have it and loan it out. It covers the
descendants of Garrett Koen d. 1720 in NC. Variations on the name include
Coon/Coen/Coan. Other families with significant information are
KIRTLAND/DUNLAP/WHORTON/QUALLS/HOFLANDER/EPPERSON/BRANCH/ALLEN/ROLLINS AND

I don't own a copy of the book, so I can't do lookups. I do have many of
the Koens from NC/TN/MO/AR and TX in my database.
