I will try and search for him in the 1930 census also. The 1940 census is out now, as you probably know and that will also help us locate him as soon as some of the index states start to show up. I appreciate this information and will help you anyway I can to find the family.
My line is actually from Jacob Cody one of the sons of James & Sarah Womack Cody of Warren County, Georgia.
Several of the Cody sons of James moved into Alabama and further west.
Paul

Can you possibly tell me the whereabouts of John B. Cody's son, Howard W. Cody? Howard was my great-grandfather but left his family in Biloxi, MS before the 1930 census. My grandfather (Howard Romie Cody) said he ran off with another woman. His mother, Jessie Belle, died in 1926 when she was 39. He, my grandfather, and his sister, Gladis, had to place the younger children in an orphanage in Jackson, MS.

I too am a descendent of Samerson Cody. He was my GGG Grandfather from his son John B. Cody, his son Howard W. Cody and Howard Romie Cody. I'm having difficulty with Samerson's info (I've seen his name spelled 4 different ways) and his grandson's (Howard W.)info. Seems my great-grandfather (Howard W.) ran off from Biloxi, MS with some woman to Texas. My grandfather, Howard Romie was a teenager when his mother died (after his father ran off) so he and his older sister, Gladis put the younger children in sn orphanage in Jackson, MS. I can't find him after the 1920 census where he was in Simpson Co, MS.

Unfortuantely, you've picked up some of the great deal of misinformation that's floated around on our ARCHDEACON family since the 1920s. James Archdeacon, Jr. or we call him James II, came to VA about 1730 with his children, unknown as to whether a wife was with them, all were born in County Kilkenny, Ireland. His father, also a James or #1, left a will in County Kilkenny in 1720--I've noticed recently that several people with family sites have skipped a generation. James Jr. or #2, had 6 known children from the will he left in Price Edward co VA, written on 10 Dec 1759, proven in April Court 1761. His children were Edmund, James or #3(who married Sarah Womack),Margaret Womack (married Richard Womack IV, Allie Archdeacon, Elinor Boose (Boaz)m. Thomas Boaz, Sr. and Mary Lumpkin (married George) Edmund is my 4th great-grandfather. The late Howard Wright wrote a book on his American Cody Family several years ago, you might be able to find a copy in a library. He had all t!
his very well documented. Howard was a descendant of James and Sarah Womack Archdeacon/Cody. The family always had the alternative name in Ireland of McOdo or Cody, and some used that and some used Archdeacon. Our family came to VA using Archdeacon, but for an unknown reason, about 1800, all branches swtiched to using Cody. My Edmund died in 1794 as an Archdeacon, two of his daughters married under the surname of Archdeaon, but all are using Cody within 6 years of his death. I think his brother, James, may have switched a little earlier. The sons of both James and Edmund who served in the Rev War used the surname Archdeacon. I am adding to my data on this family, for my website, www.knoxcolorado.com, which will get a new upload this weekend. Jan Knox

Your family is completely documented in the Cody Family Association publications, with all the four surnames and the lines going back that include your grandmother and heaps of generations before her for a couple of centuries.
They even have you and your siblings named in their last couple of books..... but that is private information on living people that includes your parents, etc.
Most likely you should just contact them directly since there is web site and a full time professional genealogist there.

Hi, I'm Olivia & I'm 15 years old. I was recently talking to my grandfather about some interesting family history. He told me that his grandfather (my great-great grandfather) was featured in an article in either West Virginia or Virginia not too long ago, maybe about 20 years ago. It told of the stories that he had with Buffalo Bill Cody as well as his sidekick, Annie Oakley. It said that my great-great grandfather could remember playing with Annie as she threw him in the air. I think that we were related to him through his mother. I think she married my great-great grandfather's father or uncle. That's interesting that we're tied together through a very unique historical figure! Good luck with your genealogy search!

I am trying to find Alice Cody.. only info found is from the census.. so working blind.. If you can help, please do..
On the 1905 census, living in Manhattan, on 68th Street,
is a Alice Cody, age 40 b. Ireland, and her son Patrick Cody, age 19, born Ire. Also living with them is Mary Soper, widow b. Ireland, age 50. I believe Mary and Alice are sisters.
In 1907, Patrick Cody, age 22?? married Mary Dillon of Manhattan.
In 1908, Patrick Cody, age 23, died.
In 1908, Joseph Cody, son of Mary Cody was born.
Mary Cody died in 1973. I think she is at Calvary Cemet
Joseph Cody died in 1973 and died/buried in CT.
I suspect Alice and Patrick came over from Ireland around 1897. Not able to find either in 1900 census..
In 1910, Alice Cody is living with Mary Soper on 3rd Ave., Manhattan. Her occu is listed as 'hotel maid'.
Mary Soper was living on 61stSt., in 1900, listed as widow.
In 1920, again Alice is living with Mary Soper, now on 68th Street..
Not able to find Alice in 1930 so assuming she may have married.
Would anyone have connection to Alice Cody or Mary Soper??
Wishing to find rest of her family.
Tks in advance
