Somebody here recently asked "are all these people related to BB?" Many, simply put, are not. Often the oral family traditions get mingled with confusion of the commonality of the surname. However, BB's family lineage was not even spelled CODY and they were well-established in America in the 1600's (while CODY-named families migrated here considerably later, including in part that a great many Irish CODY families arrived in the USA almost two centuries later!)
However, one must bear in mind that there are literally thousands and thousands of bonafide 'blood relatives' to "Buffalo Bill" - which is far different than 'descendants'. To further illustrate, let's take this (factual)information in response to a recent forum inquiry - with sharing an offering here of this subsequent posting:
Dora Cody (Nov 13, 1884 - Feb 14, 1985)was in actuality a fourth cousin, twice removed to "Buffalo Bill" Cody. This is proven and irrefutable. Fact of relationship, documented with all evidences of proof of documentation. She married in 1902 to Andrew Beers (1880-1940).
Dora's father was Charles Sylvester Cody, and her grandfather was Elson Bristol Cody. Elson was therefore fourth cousin to "Buffalo Bill".
Buffalo Bill's father Isaac Cody was therefore third cousin to Elson's father Milo Kemp Cody.
Isaac Cody's father Philip Cody was therefore second cousin to Milo Kemp Cody's father Daniel Cody.
Daniel Cody's father Joseph Cody was therefore FIRST cousin to Philip Cody's father (another) Philip Cody.
Joseph Cody's father Isaac and Philip Cody's father (another)Joseph were SIBLINGS.
See how it works? Sure, they are 'blood-related, but not 'descendants'. As with those other thousands....and thousands......and tens of thousands.....Positively. :)

Well I can't speak for everyone on here but that is what I am trying to find out. If I am related in some way. My gggrandmother was Celia Ann "Cody" or so I have been told married to Wm Moody but so far I haven't found any evidence to support it. They were supposed to have been born in TN and I only have that because that is what the census records say.

My mother Eileen Cody was orphaned the year of her birth (1928)in Brooklyn NY. Her birth certificate indicates her mother's name as Ann Cody. There is no father name recorded. She was placed at the Convent of Mercy located at Willoughby and Classon Avenues which was run by the Sisters of Mercy. She was adopted in 1930. I have found one possible match to an Ann Cody in Brooklyn born in 1909, but no other information is available. Any information would be appreciated
