Hi, I saw your posting on the Cody family. You and I are in the same boat, I too am trying to learn about the Cody line and getting no where. I descend from Miley's sister, Phoebe Malissa Cody that married George Washington Adkison.
She was my great, great, grandmother.
Phoebe and Miley's mother was Emma Watson. That Watson line is a nightmare, worse than the Cody's. I have John Watson and Francis Knowles as Emma's mother, (from notes handed down to me by my great-grandmother) but Emma was actually born 5 years before John and Francis were married. Also Francis in 1900 says she has only 3 children born to her and Emma wasn't one of them. It's logical that John was married twice and Emma was from his first marriage. So, I track the family on the 1860 and 1850 census records and find Emma with her Father John. Her Mother in 1850 - 1860 is Francis. So was John married to 2 Francis's?
Maybe we can help one another! Angela

Hi, I am new to this list and my name is Dave. I came across my grandmother's birth certificate. Her mother's last name is pronounced "Cody", but is spelled "Coedy" on the certificate. Is this a correct spelling for "Cody", and is this last name common only in southern Ireland?
Thanks to all,
-Dave

I know that your reply date was so long ago, but I'd sure like to have your geneology re the Cody family. My children's GG grandmother's maiden name was Fern Cody. She was from Marquette (sp?) Michigan and then married and settled in Klamath Falls, OR (later in Sacramento, CA). She always told the kids that she was related to Buffalo Bill Cody. If I could find any connection to the geneology you have, I'd be thrilled. pvida12(a)comcast.net

My GG mother was Bridget Cody born in Ireland in 1862. Her parents were John Cody and Bridget Scully, but don't know what year they were born or dies. My GG mother Bridget Cody immigrated to America in 1876 and lived in Jersey City, and Newark, NJ. Her husband was John Hauser born 1854 in Baden-Baden, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.
Thanks,

I would love to get this information. My mother was from the Boston area and told us that we were related to W. F. Cody and that she remembers him coming to their house when she was a child. She passed away in 1994. I'm not really sure which side of her family is supposedly the relative, but I know that my grandfather was from Newfoundland.
Thanks!!!
