I am looking for any information on John's life. He was missing a leg after being a prisoner in ww2. He was in the Bataan Death March. Was married more than once. I am trying to find traces to siblings and what he did until 1969 when he died. I think he last lived in Kansas. he had also lived in Iowa and who knows where else? Any information welcome.

Here's your answer . . . YES!
"The Cody Family in North America, Philip and Martha". This book lists all known descendants of Philip and Martha, ancestors of Buffalo Bill.
I found:
Philip and Martha Cody had a son Isaac born in 1703-04.
Issac married Hannay Carryl and they had a son Joseph.
Joseph Cody married Mary Parmenter and they had a son Daniel.
Daniel Cody married Hannah Manley and they had a son Elson.
Elson Bristol Cody born at Lysander NY 29 May 1816. A merchant living in New York state, Michigan and Kansas. He died in Oberlin KS Sept 1888. He married in Ohio 27 May 1840 Betsey Elizabeth Baldwin who was born 2 December 1818 in NY state, died 1887 at Oberlin, KS. They had 7 kids.
Their seventh child was Lewis H. Cody born Ionia county 7 June 1854, died 11 Nov 1924. He married in Norton, KS in 1884 Lucy Oliver who was born in Ohio in 1863 and died 17 May 1900.
Lewis and Lucy Cody had 8 known children, among them Maud Elena Cody born in Clyde, KS 17 May 1890. Married in Cora, KS 2 July 1911 a Harvey Edward Tharp who was born in Bellaire, KS 13 June 1881.
Maud and Harvey Tharp had 7 known children, among them Evelyn May Tharp b Clay Centre, KS 15 May 1914. She married Charles Scott in 1936.
Maud and Charles Scott had 7 known children: Hazel Lenon, Evelyn May, Ralph Joseph, Stella Margaret, Rut Lullia, Grace Lullia and Elizabeth Myrel.
Your family line pretty much ends there so you would be what we consider a "lost Cody" and would love to welcome you into the Cody Family Association.
Your ancestor Isaac was a brother to Buffalo Bill's great-something grandfather, so you are distance cousins.
I have much more.

I did a look up in the "Cody Family of North America, Philip and Martha" which lists all known descendants of Philip and Martha, including Buffalo Bill. It's not a complete list, however, so you may still have family connections.
I don't find the names you list other than Glover but she married into the Armstrong family in 1948 so this is probably too recent for you.
Maybe the connection is through BB's mother? Have you researched the name Frederici?

the Cody Family in North America (which lists BB's paternal lineage) doesn't list a Phelan but the Tierney family married in very recently:
A Tierney married a Berwanger. Given their birthdates, they are both probably still living so I'll give no more info online but if these names ring any bells you can contact me privately by responding to this.

I've checked the Cody Family in North America, Philip and Martha and don't see your Shephard. (This is the Cody family book that lists all known descendants of Philip and Martha Cody, thus BB's paternal ancestors) It's not complete but it is pretty extensive.
There are Shepard, Shepherd and Sheppard families listed but none spelled your way, nor is there a Warren.
Maybe the connection is through BB's mother?

I did a lookup for you in "The Cody Family in North America, Philip and Martha". Sorry, no Bourgoins.
By the way, I've been searching the Burgoyne family in sixteenth century England. If you get back that far, you might check out this alternate spelling.

I am trying to locate anyone with knowledge of the Cody's from Spenser, MA. He was married to Minnie Carbaneu in 1895. There were 2 children, Walter and Beartice. He left the family at some point and other family members would never discuss it whenever the question was raised as to where did he go and why. I managed to find out he resided in Newton,MA and his DOD is Aug 1966. Minnie had cousins living inSpenser by the name of Napoleon and Yvonne Lavigne and also Lagarie, names unknown. I'd like to know where he was and what he did from the time he left to his death.

My grandmother in Indiana use to tell us that she was a distant cousin of Buffalo Bill Cody. I have never been able to find the connection, but I'm still trying. I believe the connection is through his mother as she was traveling down the Ohio River to southern Indiana (to visit relatives) when she met Mr. Cody on the boat. My grandmother's family names were Kramer, Creamer, Bottorff, Wood, Ganote, Genote. Do you have anything that might come in with those names?
It does appear that there is some connection to Indiana. My grandmother was also very adamant about her being a distant cousin.
