My maternal grandmother, Kathryn Frances Cody (b. 26 Mar 1890 in Boston), married Charles Hugh Elers in Boston on 25 Apr 1914. Her parents were John F. Cody and Mary E. Cody, nee O'Neill who operated a boarding house at 30 Salutation St, in Boston's North End. My mother, Kathryn (Elers) Mahoney was her only child. My grandmother died 12 Jul 1930 in Stoneham, MA. John and Mary Cody also had two sons, William L. and George H., aged 12 and 10 in the 1910 Census. My family lost track of the Cody's over the years. Would be interested in their whereabouts?

Hi Pat,
My g-g-grandfather, Laurence Coady, was born in 1815 in County Kilkenny, Ireland. He immigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada, c. 1830, along with two John Coady's. I am guessing a brother and a father, or a brother and a cousin, etc. He died in PEI in 1897. I cannot trace either of the John's after their arrival in PEI.
What made me respond to your email was the similarity of family names, especially the spelling of Laurence, and the fact that many of our Cody (Coady) family settled in the US.
My line continues - Laurence's son, James A. Cody (b. 1842,
d. 1922), is my great-grandfather. His son, John Edward Cody (Coady) (b. 1884, d. 1979), is my grandfather, and his son, John James Coady (b. 1922, d. 1985) is my father. The two spellings of the surname still appear in the family today. I have first-cousins who spell their name Cody.
I have been unable to locate the family in Kilkenny, and that is the focus of my research.
Would it be possible to get a copy of John's death certificate? Do you have any information that might connect him to Canada? PEI?
Best regards,
Jim Coady

I'm searching for John Cody. He was born about 1810 in Ireland and I'm
guessing it might have been in Kilkenny. My reason for this thought is
on the tombstone for him and his wife it reads, Native's of Kilkenny,
Parish of St. Canice, Ireland. John's parents were Laurence and Julie
Cody. This was listed on his death certificate dated 22 August 1884 in
Paterson, New Jersey. John married Mary Morris about 1854. I'm not sure
if they married in Ireland or in America. They had 2 sons, Lawrence born
25 November 1855 in Paterson, New Jersey and Edward born 31 January 1859
in Paterson, New Jersey. Edward married Mary O'Donnell.
If this might be part of your family I would like to share information.
Thank you
Pat Crimmel

Do you have any sibblings for your William Patrick Cody born in Kilkenny?
My Mary Morris, born 1817 in Kilkenny, married John Cody. I don't know if
they married in Kilkenny but their 2 sons were both born in Paterson,
Passaic, New Jersey. The sons were Lawrence born 1855 and Edward born 1859.
John Cody was a grocery in Paterson. He died in 1884 and is buried at Holy
Sepluchre Cemetery. On his and Mary's tombstone is stated - Natives of
Kilkenny, Parish of St. Canice, Ireland.
