Wayne -- James Patrick Cody did marry Mary Jane Dagnan, but did not die in the Civil War. He migrated to Jefferson County, AL after the Civil War and died there on April 20, 1898. (He was a coal miner, and one of many who migrated from Dade County, GA to Jefferson County, AL in the 1870s and 1880s.) Both he and Mary Jane (who died on February 12, 1898) are buried at Adger Cemetery, Adger, Jefferson County, AL. My great-grandmother, Margaret Lucinda (Maggie) Moreland, was the daughter of Margaret Sarah Cody and James Andrew Moreland. I have a fair amount of info on these lines and would be happy to pass along what I have. Thanks and regards. Hal

Connie, the last information I had for Kilkenny Genealogy Center was as follows:
Mary Flood, administrator
Rothe House
Parliment St., Kilkenny, Ireland
Tel: 353 (0) 56 7722893
e-mail rothehouse(a)eircom.net
You can also try the Kilkenny Genealogy site (Cyndi's List) to see what records and services are available
I think they also have a web site as well
Good Luck..........Don

Constance, I am also a Cody. My family including my grandfather were all born in Ireland. Almopst all of the Cody's are on the east coast in Ireland. The majority are from Kilkenny area and near by Cork. My own family was from Enniscorthy and the Catherdral there....St Aidan's was very helpful in researching local records. My family was from Dungarvan, Inistoge, and Kilkenny itself.
My Cody's were Catholic (not all are) and therefore there is no record of civil birth prior to 1865. If you can find the right church/parish there is a good chance they will have the records. I was able to find the marriage, and all of the baptisms of all the children. The genealogical society at the Rothe House in Kilkenny was somewehat helpful. A Mary Flood ran that program and did research for oversea Americans
I would start with the Churches in Kilkenny or the Rothe House.............
Good luck in your research Don
