Buffalo Bill Cody (not Wild Bill) had no sons that reached adulthood. All of his descendants come through his daughters, thus there are no direct descendants with the surname Cody. The only exception is Kit Carson Cody who is Buffalo Bill's great-great grandson and was born Bruce Garlow. He changed his name as an adult.

The book The Cody Family in America reports that Melinda Cody married Joseph Putney Deuel, the son of Benjamin and Sybil (Putney) Deuel of Cambridge NY. The book goes on to state Benjamin Deuel, father of Jos P Deuel was among those Frenchmen who accompanied the Marquis De La Fayette when he came to the aid of the American Colonies. That would place his arrival after 1775.
Has anyone discovered with any degree of certainty any more identifying information about Benjamin Deuel? For example: where and when was he born, who were his parents, name of wife and date and place of birth, names of additional children, where did he settle, date and place of death.
Has any vital information been discovered about Sybil Putney or her parents, brothers or sisters?

Hi, I just joined RootsWeb and saw this thread.
I believe I am your dad's double cousin.
His Mom was my moms sister.
His dad was my dads brother.
J J Cody Jr right?
Also he is buried next to his wife's brother also killed in WWII.
Anyhow I have a military record of both of my uncles.
Jesse James Jr and Orin (Toad) Bowen
Wait to see if you reply.
