The finding of two his children that I had not had info. before was a help to my records. James L.(b.1846) and Allen Cody were in diffenent counties in Georgia but I finally found them. There are two or three more that I would like to find and I guess that I will have to go to the county records here in Georgia to find anything on them. I have never found where Elias is buried nor his date of death. Where did you get his date of death and if there is some confusion than maybe the Methodist or the Baptist newspapers will give us a lead there. I shall keep looking for them.

Thanks, Doug.
Have you found Archdeacon in your own Cody line? And,
is MacGillicuddy in any way connected to the
Archdeacon line?
Jim

Hi Jim,
The Cody's of Kilkenny are an old line, descending
from a Norman knight by the name of Odo Le Ercedekne.
To make a long story short, the family ended up with
the name of Cody- Archdeacon sept. Family members have
often used the name of Archdeacon and Cody
interchangeably I would advise you to go back through
the records looking for an Archdeacon. I hope this
helps.

Jim,
Yes, the Archdeacon name is an intregal part of and of equal import in my
family line. Cody has become the common last name used. Archdeacon was used early
on in this country as a last name with some of the line. It was later used as
a middle name in come instances.
The only info I have for you on the McGullicudy question is a bit I picked up
from an "official" Irish tourist site which states the McGullicudy name was
mistakenly applied to a Cody who was a famous writer from the area back into
the 1600 - 1700's. I did not keep this citation, so that's all I have. I hope
this is of help.
Doug

Thanks, Doug. I am very interested in your Cody information.
Here is what I have connecting my family to Kilkenny: my
great-great-grandfather, Laurence Cody, was born in County Kilkenny in 1815 and moved to Prince Edward Island, Canada, circa 1833, with his brothers (I think) William and John, and another, older John - possibly their father. Whether, or not, John was their father is speculation on my part.
That's as far as I have been able to get. I have not found any Laurence Cody in Kilkenny records with the correct dates.
Any information will be appreciated.

Jim, I am researching the Cody line, but am far behind some others who have already done a lot of work, at least on my line. My line does go back to Kilkenny and I do have information, which I will share. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

You have contacted me before but I have found that from Crenshaw County, Alabama Sahrah moved with Moses to Jones County, Mississippi. John Cody was the father to Sarah and had been in the War of 1812. He was the son of James and Sarah Womack Cody of Warren County, Georgia.
I am still looking for information on your Dossett line.
