I doubt if this is the same person. Since they have the month and day, it is probably accurate. Cement is close to Oklahoma City. Messer is in the southeastern part of the state. Sorry.

Thanks Sally, this is very strange but she was listed on
the 1920 Caddo Co. Ok Census. Strange for two people
to have that name. I wonder if that death date is wrong.
Is this close to Cement? I know very little about Okla although I do live in Texas.

I have a picture of a marker in the Messer Cemetery between Hugo and Sawyer and Rattan Just of highway 147, of an Ella Cody born Feb 20, 1876 and died Nov. 20, 1916. The marker says: Mother waits for us in Heaven.
Could this be your Ella Cody?

Hi,
I need to correct some information my sister, Edith
Pomeroy posted.
George is wrong for John Washington Cody's father. We do not know his parents names.
William Edward Cody was not married to Betsy McFarley but was married (2) Ella I. in Oklahoma about 1912 and they had a son, Lloyd who was b. in 1913. They are listed on the 1920 Cement Township,Caddo Co., Okla Census.
As of today, we do not know Ella's last name.

How about a Martin Cody? He lived in the Craft household (1850 Jackson Co., GA census. His age given as 9 yrs.) He later married Eliza Fulcher; he was killed/died during Civil War. Martha Cody seems to have been his sister or mother. Martha was born abt. 1817-1822. She married Elijah/Alijah Craft in 1849. Would like to know more about Martin and Martha. She is one of my g-g-grandmothers.

The Odessa, Texas Cody family may be able to answer some of these questions if I can ever get a chance to ask them.
They moved to Odessa from Stephenville.
There were two families of Codys living in Stephenville at the same time from what I can learn. One we know is down from Edmund and Ann of VA and the other is from maybe James of GA

Glad to know where that family came from. I know who you are not and I know that Edmund and my James Cody were kin and I am thinking that they were brothers but I am not sure of that. James came out of VA into NC and then into GA ,where he died in Warren County, GA.
The next question than is who were the Cody family that moved to Odessa, Texas from Stephenville?

you wouldn't happen to have a Julia Cody anywhere in this line would you? I understand BB Cody had a sister? that was Julia but she would have been much too young to be the Julia I'm looking for.
I don't have my notes here infront of me but if I recall correctly, the Julia Cody I am interested in was born around 1840-50ish, was from Tennessee - Tipton most likely, and married a John Owens. Not very good information for you to go on and I apologize. If anything sounds like a possibility, I will try to dig out my files. This is my hubby's line so I don't have much on it
Thanks!
