Sally,
Your line, I would bet, came from Eastern North Carolina into Tennessee and was probably from the Godfrey, Pierce, or Thomas Cody lline which were settlers or a lot of the East Tenn. counties.
One of the people who use to post on this line was from VA and knew a great deal about them but I have forgotten who it was----I have seen so many Cody names.

Althia Moore was from Mississippi from what I can gather. She lived in either Monroe County, MS or Itawamba County which is just north of Monroe Co.
I would love to know where you got the name George Cody. What was your source for that find? They lived in Ms before moving to Texas and I am wondering where the Byrd or Bird woman got married in Lamar County, Alabama (just East of Monroe Co., MS)?
I would really like to connect up your line and I would bet that this is part of the Jacob Cody lline but it still has to be proved

My line is down from James and Sarah Womack Cody of Georgia. James had a son Jacob and that is my line. Jacob had serveral children and some of the grandchildren moved to Texas. Edmund Baker Cody had a son who moved into Franklin and Titus Co., Texas and settled. There was one who moved to Stephenville and I am still trying to sort him out but he may have been a son or grandson of Edmund Baker Cody as well. He also could have been a son of James A. Cody another son of Jacob. I am still trying to sort out some twenty or so families and that is a lot of people.

Hi,
I am the sister of Edith and we visited Hightower Cemetery in Oct. at Morgan Mill. I took a picture of your William's wife grave for one of your relatives. I sent it to her. William's grave wasn't by his wife's. I still have the negative, if you want a picture.
This picture with the Wright brothers is not of your William S. Cody. It is our William Edward Cody. I have copies of the picture. Our William E. Cody taught school in Com 18 in 1890-1891 and in Com 56 in 1891-1892. He was elected County Clerk of Erath Co. on the 8th of Nov. 1892. Edith thought he was Justice of the Peace but it was County Clerk. I found the election papers in Austin earlier this month.
John Washington Cody and his son William E. Cody lived in Graham, Tx in 1903 as they bought land together near there.
John Washington Cody is buried in Veal Creek Cemetery near Ivan, Tx which is near Graham, Tx.

That I am not sure of but you can bet that he knew my Wright kin there. D.J.Wright and Jacob Cody Wright. If this is the same man I have a picture of him taken some time before 1903. He is standing between D.J. and Jacob C. Wright and it was taken in Stephenville. D.J. lived in Morgan Mill, Texas after moving first from Alabama to Florida and then to Texas.
What year was your grandfather at Morgan Mill?

My mother was telling me that there is a rumor that we are related to either Buffalo Bill or Captain Kidd. Cody rings a bell. I know that one of my GGrandmothers was Amelia Cody. I am looking for memory stimulation. I don't know why her name just came to me. I cannot remember where I saw her name in our family notes.
