My gr-grandfather was Luke Code/Cody. He was first in Bureau Co. and then moved to Bradford, Il. I don't think that he was part of this Cody family but, I was interested in your Sangler connection. I worked with Gary Spangler 25 years ago in Peoria and I think that he was from Canton. Any connection?

I'm new at this,so bear with me. My grandfather's name was William Robert Cody. Born Sept. 5, 1879, we think in Madison County, NC. We have conflicting stories about his mother. Laura Cody (?) She was never married, but had four children. We've been told that all our lives. Now we find a document where he applied for his SS card, in 1936, and it list James Madison Cody and Bessie Franklin Cody as his parents. He was working for a hosiery mill in Hickory,NC at the time. Does any of this ring any bells?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maureen: Thanks for the reply, there are alot of Codys in Michigan. Some years back a friend bought a painting at a flea market because he liked the frame. Behind the painting
he found a family portrait of the Cody family in front of their house. It lists the name and address, and we always wondered if they had any relatives who might be interested in
the foto. It appears to have been taken around 1900. I was in
Mi. on business recently and found the street listed but the numbers have changed and the house is long gone. I posted
the message back in March and yours is the first reply I got.
Hopefully we will solve the mystery someday. Thanks again,
Rich Winiarski

I have found where my grandfather, Maurice Cody had a brother that died in Pittsburgh in April 1918. My grandfather died in June 1918 and a newspaper article I've found says a brother came from Detroit. My father thinks there was an Uncle Andy in VA hospital in Chicago. He believes there was a sister Bea and a sister Julie or Julia. He was only 2 when his father died. There may be more relatives. I know there was another Morris who lived a short ways away as we have found his headstone.

I am interested in the lineage. My gfather told us that B B Cody was our uncle 3 times removed, but I don't know if that was my mother or me.
I have never pursued it. I figured that it probably came in on the OLIVE side, however if it is true, could be on the, ALLEN, BURRESS, or WYLES side.
