Am interested in learning about Elizabeth Code/Cody and Timothy Cude of
Randolph County in the late 1700's. There is a possibility that Elizabeth
is a GGG Grandmother, believe she was married to Thomas Cox and they had a
daughter also named Elizabeth.
Young Elizabeth married William Garner in 1812 and was dismissed from the
Quaker unity for marrying outside the faith. Also some records show her as
"an orphan of record". Family lore says young Elizabeth was one quarter
Cherokee, so assume her mother was the Native American connection and was
one half Cherokee.
Timothy Cude evidently was an associate of Thomas Cox, and their names show
in the roster of participants of the Regulators movement during the
pre-Revolution period in western North Carolina.
Is anyone familiar with these families and their activities?
Best regards,
Grace Baxter Constantine

My line of Cody's is that of Godfrey Cody of Surry Co., NC and Buncombe Co.,
NC. I have documented his father, Pierce Cody of Spotsylvania and Lunenburg
Co., VA and Rowan Co., NC. I have published this documentation at my website
at http://www.mindspring.com/~baumbach/
I am also interested in the collateral Ridge, Combs and Stacy families in
Surry Co., NC, who with the Codys, sided with the Kings Loyalists during the
American Revolutionary War. Much of this documentation is at the above
website.
Lastly, I am also interested in the Rev. Col. John Coode of St. Mary's Co.,
MD who led the Glorious Revolution in Maryland in 1681. However, I know of
no familial linkage to the Codys in my family.

My computer is about to crash. It warms me ahead of time. The computer

claims.

Surname: Cody
-------------------------
I am looking for any information on a Richard Thomas Cody, b. 1850-60's
in Illinois, who married a Mary Campbell, b. 1850-60's in Ireland. They
had 10 children, one named Nellie (possibly Ellen)b. 01 Feb 1882 in IL.
Some other children's names may be Edna, Frances, & Ruleg. Supposedly Nellie
is the eldest of the children.
Excellent idea Dennis, I haven't seen much activity on this list, maybe a
rollcall can get some going. My connection to the Cody family is through
BBC's mother, MaryAnn Laycock and her mother, Hannah Taylor, if anyone else
is related through the Taylors, I'd love to hear from you. Most of my family
names are from NJ and PA, specifically, Philadelphia:
BOOKER CODY ELKINTON FELLOWS HOULSTON JARMAN KENNEDY MC/MAC DONALD MC/MAC
MURRAY MARIS MATTHEWS MOTT SAYRE TAYLOR TYLER O'HARA UNRUH
Diane
Since we have a small list, I don't see any harm in having a rollcall. Who
knows, we may find a relative.
I am descended from:
Timothy J. Cody born Abt 1846 in Mallow, County Cork, Ireland died 28 Aug
1888 in St. Louis, MO while working as an ironworker on the Eads Bridge.
wife: Anne Daly, born 15 Jan 1852 in County Cork, Ireland, died 03 Apr
1913 in St. Louis, MO
Children:
John Cody, born 1870, New York, died 1 Jun 1890, St. Louis, MO
James Cody, born 1872, New York, died 3 Sep 1897, St. Louis, MO
Margaret Ann Cody, born 19 Aug 1876, died 22 Dec 1935
married to: William Joseph O'Brien, Sr., Lieutenant, St. Louis Police
Force
Mary Frances (Mollie) Cody, born 27 Mar 1879, St. Louis, MO, died 27, Feb
1930, St. Louis, MO
married to: Emil Francis John Schrappen, Patrolman, St. Louis Police
Force
Elizabeth Rita (Bessie) Cody, born 10 Nove 1880, St. Louis, MO, died 23 Jan
1909, St. Louis, MO
William Thomas Cody, born 19 Jan 1883, St. Louis, MO, died 16 Mar 1904, St.
Louis, MO
As you can see, my branch of the Cody's "daughtered" out. We believe the
area in New York that our Cody's came from is Troy, Rennselaer County.

Does anyone on this list know the address for the International Cody Family
Association (Buffalo Bill's family). I used to have an email address for a
Bill who belonged to this group "swcody(a)juno.com". This account is no longer
active and I would like to contact him. This is the Buffalo Bill Cody's
family. I am an Irish Cody, a different family. I believe my family
originally came from Troy, Renssalear County, New York to St. Louis,
Missouri. The following is what I know about Buffalo Bill's family.
"The members in the International Cody Family Association are descended from
Philip & Martha Cody who settled in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1698. They came
from the Isle of Jersey, off the coast of France. Their original name was
LeCaude, which was somehow changed to Coady, and later to Cody. Buffalo Bill
belonged to this group of Cody's. All, or a good portion of the research, has
been done already. Another way for anyone to do research is to use the
Mormon's Family History Centers, they are usually located in cities where
they have temples. They are open to the public. They are full of information
and have information on Philip & Martha Cody's lineage even back before the
family came to America.
The International Cody Family Association holds reunions every 2 years. The
last reunion took place in Cody, Wyoming in July 1996 commemorating Buffalo
Bill’s 150th birthday. The next one will be held in Beverly, Massachusetts
commemorating the 300th anniversary of the Cody family in America. "
Anybody know what their address is for anyone inquiring?
