Carissa-I descend through Zillah Coddington's son Samuel Conger and would very much be interested in anything you might want to share on Zillah's family.

Folks,
Anyone have any suggestions for improvements to the Coddington website?
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~coddingtons/
It is inching towards 50,000 hits so I guess some of you may use it.
Interested in any suggestions.
Jonathan

Thought that link looked suspicious...it doesn't work.
So try:
http://dna.ancestry.com/viewConsole.aspx
This is the home page for ancestry.com's dna module. If you have an ancestry ID, you can log in and use the "View DNA" button on the left to create a dna haplotype for your ancestry, then search for groups named "Coddington" and ask to join, and I will approve. We can all post our results there and keep track of things. Ancestry.com is the largest genealogy site, so I expect it will soon provide the most thorough dna-based searches available.

Folks,
I have set up a new Coddington DNA group at Ancestry.com:
http://groups.ancestry.com/site/40221495/
For those interested in genetic genealogy of "Coddington" and its variants, this looks to be a more useful tool than any heretofore.
For one thing, if you have y dna results from any lab you can enter them and the site will accumulate all the results into one table.
You can also enter a pedigree (tho I don't think you can link to a regular pedigree at ancestry or rootsweb).
It also has a discussion forum.
Ancestry.com is the biggest genealogy site on the planet, so searches, etc. should be more effective there.
As an update, so far there are three known, unrelated origins of the Coddington surname: Surrey, Lincolnshire, and Cheshire, all proven w DNA. Would be great to find about about Ireland, etc.
If you have already been tested and have a user account at Ancestry (it's free), go to:
http://dna.ancestry.com/viewConsole.aspx?att=VgAKXpVYjTjeFC63MNoNqE*CvPwC...
(or something like that)
Log in, enter your results, search for group/surname Coddington, and ask to join the group.
It would be GREAT! to put all the DNA results in one place where everyone can see and comment.
