There is also an 1850 enumeration of Adam et al. in Lockport, Niagara Co., NY. The two family lists don't quite match up. But the Burdge connection sounds promising. See http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~coddingtons/12062.htm.

Another source is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~coddingtons/2705.htm, which is much better documented than Merlyn's gedcom.

There are a number of Coddingtons buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Harrington, including John Henry Coddington and his wife Alice Phaunchee, whose daughter was Anne Maude Coddington.

This Ontario family descends from Joseph Lewis Coddington (1792-1871) and his two wives, Elizabeth Laraway and Hannah Stanlish. JL was born in the U.S., left an excellent bible record, but unfortunately did not record his parents.
Merlyn Coddington (deceased) thought his father might have been a Benjamin (abt 1770) from New York State. I (or maybe it was Merlyn) attributed 4 children to this Benjamin, mostly because they all flourished in the same part of Ontario.
Given JL's dates, he could not have been the loyalist emigre, but perhaps his father or grandfather was.

go to Merlyn Coddington GED.FTW or to Goedert's Genealogy
Peter's father was born Aug.1, 1809, Rochester, NY and was the son of John Coddington and Maria Osterhout.
Peter married Hannah E. Kalder 10-13-1874 in NY. They had Clarence James, b.1875, Jacob Henry, b.1878, and William, b. 1888. I believe Hannah's parents were James and Jane Kalder (Calder) of Hannibal and Rochester, NY. as found in Census recordsfor 1850 and 1860.
