I ran across the mention of David Coddington, in researching the wills of
Sussex County, VA. I don't know about his roots, just like to mention that it is
there and someone who is interested could go and research the site:

These place names look like Sussex County, NJ. We have Wantage, Newton,
Hackettstown . . .
Are you sure it's a Virginia entry?

The Rev. Herbert Guibord Coddington (1865-1956), of Syracuse, wrote
three pamphlets on Coddington genealogy. His papers, which don't amount
to much, are at the New Jersey Historical Society in Newark. The Garrett
Co. story had to do with the migration from New Jersey of William,
Benjamin, and Samuel Coddington, brothers and Rev. War vets to Garrett
Co, where they founded a line of Coddingtons that persists to this day.

The title reads "Descendants of Isaac, Reuben and Uzziah Coddington of Woodbridge New Jersey." They were sons of Benjamin Coddington, born in 1680. Benjamin was son of John Coddington.
Your right, it was written by Herbert G Coddington (H G Coddington). Thanks for helping.

Hi Ruth, I don't know if there are. The title reads
"Descendants of Isaac, Reuben and Uzziah Coddington of Woodbridge New Jersey." They were sons of Benjamine Coddington, born in 1680. Benjamine was son of John Coddington.
I would have to go through it page by page and read each entry as it doesn't list them by country. Hope this helps. Thanks for checking with me.

Not if these are the ones by H.G. Coddington--he worked only on NJ Coddingtons and never managed to link Joseph Lewis to the clan.

Interesting. I only knew that Perry Coddington married "Minnie ___", who must therefore be Minnie Reynolds, who had a daughter Elsie in addition to their known daughter Silvia. But Abraham Weston Labagh married Perry's sister Katie E. in 1863, suggesting that Austin was Abraham's brother or other relative. Do you know if Austin's father was William, and mother Rebecca McCready?
I've never been contacted by living descendants. The closest I can come is that Merlyn Coddington (deceased) must have corresponded with someone who knew of Clarence Wilmot Coddington (abt 1876-) and who was a nephew of Perry. No direct descendants that I know of.

Am looking for ancestors of CONSTANCE E LABAGH, in hopes of finding relatives who would love to have these 12 pictures. She was born Nov 1905 NY, died Nov 1994 FL. She was the dau and only child of AUSTIN LABAGH and ELSIE CODDINGTON. ELSIE CODDINGTON is the dau of PERRY CODDINGTON and MINNIE REYNOLDS. Elsie's sister, SYLVIA CODDINGTON was married to FRANK LAIDLAW. MINNIE REYNOLDS was the dau of ANDREW REYNOLDS and CYNTHIA SMITH. This ANDREW REYNOLDS was also married to ELSIE SMITH giving MINNIE several half siblings.
If you have a connection to these families, please email me: pzeirott(a)aol.com
Thanks for the correction. Done, tho it may take a while to show up on
the net. I've seen it both ways, and went with a spelling that
predominated in one archive collection.

Thank you for the address of the new version of the desc. of Stockdale
Coddington. Who do we contact if there is an error. My ancestors are
Isabella H.
Frey, daughter of William Frey and wife Charlotte Coddington Frey and
greatgranddaughter of Samuel and Anna Frey.
Their name is FREY not FRYE. On every official document of William and
Isabella H. Frey they have spelled their name Frey. I have seen
William's brother's
name spelled Frye, but that is the only person. Even his father spelled
his
name Frey.

Sorry, hasn't changed:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=coddingtons;
The other one, produced as "web pages" by Legacy, and therefore more
swanky, is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~coddingtons/
But it lags behind the other because updating it means uploading 14,000
web pages--very tedious.
