I've got a question that is quite perplexing and was hoping for some ideas/help.
Info:

skip to 1880 Census
Baird, Archibald H 57
Hannah W 50
James S 14
Coddington, Charity ML 71
1915 Obit of Archibald Baird :
excepts: .."son of John Baird, one of the earliest settlers of New Jersey, who at one time owned more than 1200 acres in Morris County.. ...born in a house not a stones throw from the old homestead which he lived the remainder of his life. ...was 16 when left to provide for his mother, grandmother, two sisters Julia, Kate and 3 brothers, John, Lewis and David... ...married Hannah Bird of Mt. Horeb. "
Mt. Horeb Cemetery
Isaiah Coddington 1862 Dec 30 age 81
Coddington, Charity Smith Bird 1900 Jan 13 age 90
Question:
IS the Charity Coddington on the census Charity Smith Coddington Bird who is buried next to Isaiah Coddington in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery and listed as his wife? If her maiden name is Smith, where can I find info on her marriage to Bird? If her maiden name is Bird than she cannot be Hannah's mother and the ML in the census, so who is?
Hope for some ideas and maybe some help. Thanks, Robyn
In his much appreciated WorldConnect database, "The Merlyn Coddington Family
Tree," Merlyn has placed my earliest confirmed CODDINGTON ancestor, John
CODDINGTON (d. 12 AUG 1845 Hector, Schuyler County, NY)...
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mlcodd&id=I04800
...as a son of Benjamin-6 CODDINGTON (Benjamin-5-4, John-3-2), Stockdale-1)
of Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., NJ and Greenwich Township, Cumberland Co., NJ
and his wife, Phoebe -----.

This may very well be the case, but I would greatly appreciate any
additional information that anyone can provide to support (or refute) this
theoretical placement. For more information on this family, please refer to
the CODDINGTON documents at my web site. Noted genealogist, John Insley
Coddington, was unable to identify the ancestry of John CODDINGTON but
published his research efforts on this line as an "Unconnected Coddington
Family" in The American Genealogist.
Thanks for your help,
Perry
