HI Jane
My father Alan was a Cockshott they lived in Whiteley Lane Fulwood Sheffield. The name was changed by deed pole in 1956 to Conway. Both dad and his brother Graham hated the name due to the 'ragging' they got at school. Their father Samuel Alonzo Cockshott was told he had been adopted but that wasnt true he and his sisters Mary and Isobella were brought up by their aunt and uncle on their mothers side ( Samuel Alonzo Peel and Fanny ne Higginbottom) at Firth Park Sheffield they owned the Coliseum / Emporium at Firth Park Brightside. Their parents Thomas Maud Cockshott and Amelia ne Peel are last listed living apart on the 1911 census. Im trying to make sense of what happened they went to Dayton Ohio in 1886 and Amelia came back with Mary and Isobella in 1894.
I have letters, wills and docs ref them but still unravelling.
Yours truly
Sally
