Hello all, I've been revisiting my Cockshaw line and I want to confirm a couple of things with you all.
James Cockshott's (1798) father was Lawrence, a weaver (from James marriage to Ellen Ormrod.)
Lancs OPC has marriage for Lawrence (a Weaver) to Rosamund Beswick 1787. can I assume Lawrence as the same born 1763 to Richard & Betty. BMD registers have this and another Lawrence in 1773 to Richard & Betty at the same place at Morris Bank, Livesey. Would Richard & Betty name two living children Lawrence? The 2nd Lawrence died at Woodhead, Belthorn 1788 and father Richard was deceased.
Marriage from Lancs OPC for this couple 26 Feb 1754 St Mary the Virgin, Blackburn, Lancashire, England
Richard Cockshut - of Sailsbury (Salesbury)
Elizabeth Holden - of Lower Darwen
- is Elizabeth the same Betty mother of Abraham 1754, Richard 1768(sp Betty Briggs)? et al

Hello Amanda,
thank you for contacting me. I guess it's not the same Allan Cockshoot then. I have managed to trace the direct family line of my Grandpa back to 1801, it seems his line of cockshoot's where in Darwen at that period, probably before too. I can let you see the line if you like, it might be of some interest? I haven't researched any of the other Cockshoots, just my direct lineage but there are family members on there that might be from your lineage as the family was quite big in the 19th Century.
All the best,
Dominic

Dear Dominic,
Allan (this is the correct spelling!) Cockshoot was also my Grandad (my cousin has also been corresponding with you) and my maiden name is Amanda Cockshoot (Dad - Graham Allan Cockshoot and Mum - Janet Pauline Moss).
Allan lived in Darwen all his life and never lived in Morecombe, so it may have been a different Allan Cockshoot your grandpa was related to. He went to St.George's school, then Springbank, where he met my Grandma, Dorothy Waddicor. They married on 14th Feb 1950 and had Glenys Cockshoot (my auntie - now Broughton) and Graham Allan Cockshoot (my Dad) - hope this helps.
Kind regards
Amanda McTomney (nee Cockshoot)
