This confirms what I had .. and it took a very long time to figure out.
I had a lot of notes connecting John COCKSHOTT of Moorside (1820-1881) to
various nieces and nephews and it just DIDN'T work out.
And then it hit me !! John's wife was a Grace .. I looked for a marriage of
a John and Grace .. and there it was: she was a COCKSHOTT too.
Then everything fitted in .. the nieces and nephews are all hers.
As to the BREAR/BREARE : I knew John of Cheltenham was connected (also
through census records of nephews and nieces etc.) but couldn't find his
birth record.
So I looked for a John being born (before the marriage of a Thomas and
Margaret) with the same surname as the bride.
Found: marriage Thomas and Margaret BREARE Dec. quarter 1838 and chr. of a
John BREAR 25th June 1837 (mother Margaret).
In 1841 they are at Cringles:
Margaret COCKSHOTT, 24, head
Elizabeth COCKSHOTT 1
Maria BREAR 22
John BREAR 4
Don't know where Thomas is in 1841.
Whether John was the biological son of Thomas or adopted I don't know ... he
is listed as a son in 1851. Perhaps he is mentioned in the will of Thomas
(presuming he left one).
This is what I have so far:

The Ann WEATHERHEAD who married Henry could be a niece of Elizabeth through
her brother Charles !?
