very good. I had the mother down as "maybe Ann THACKERY" so that confirms
THAT.
I worked on that family for days .. they've always caused me trouble ...
anyway I think I have it now ..
I'm hoping that when you have Thomas's birth certificate it will confirm his
mother's name as BREAR/BREARE ....
if not: it's back to the drawing board LOL
I have the same siblings as you for Thomas of Sandfit:
John, Elizabeth, Ann, Henry, Lister, Margaret and William.
Thomas 1813, son of Henry and Margaret JACKSON
Henry 1791, son of Henry and Grace LISTER
Henry 1748, son of Thomas and Hannah SMITH
Thomas 1705, son of William and Isabella RUSHWORTH
William 1671, son of Thomas and Margaret
Thomas 1640, son of Dennis and Elizabeth BOULTON
I could go on but I see I have Dennis buried twice .. I'd better sort THAT
out LOL
Cheers Jane

Hi Jane
While in the National Archives the other day, collected a Cockshott in
passing, in a book of Courts martial (ref WO86/5)
Private Hy. COCKSHOTT, 66th Regiment, held at Gibraltar 17th July 1846 - 4
months Hard Labour.

I don't have a Kathleen Cockshott in my records. I have looked
primarily at the Knaresboro MM records, since that was the meeting to
which most of my ancestors belonged. Pheby first appears in these
when she marries John Grimshaw in 1702, and I don't have any other
Cockshott records from the MM. Previous generations appear to have
stayed in the Church of England. It's possible they were in other
meetings and could be found in the Digests, which I don't have access
to except when I travel to Dallas.

Blooming Heck (as they say in Germany) there's a note on those pages that's
confirmed something I've been looking for.
One of those "I feel it in my bones" things LOL

James Cockshott. Proprietor of lands in Barnoldswick at Letcliffe. Evidence
of old estate map, date unknown but probably c 1841. Also elector of

I have James in Liverpool at Rodney Street .. he married Elizabeth TOBIN,
daughter of Sir John TOBIN, pirate and slaver, and they were both mentioned
in an article in the Liverpool Council Liverpool Mercury Friday November
22nd 1833 about the corruption in the government, bribery at elections and
family connections:

Hi Jane,
I'm most curious about the information on Wm, 1710. My closest
Cockshott is Pheby, 1679-1748, m. John Grimshaw. Her parents were Wm.
Cockshott and Rebecca Marshall, according to what I've learned. Would
this be the same William? If so, do you have any information on the
contents of the Bond & Inventory?
Thanks so much,

Hi jane,
Thanks for your help.
I've not been able to get to see the PR's as yet - unfortunately my need to
earn money gets in the way of my wanting time to do my hobby :0)
I did get a lot of early data from another Sanderson researcher, but hope
that by looking at your records that I can at least compare the details I
have to date.
Thanks again,
Vickey

Jane, I'd like to personally thank you for the transcriptions that you are
doing of these probate files. My heart leaps every time one pops up, and I
hope my Lawrence will show up as a child of one of the John Cockshotts that
you are finding. But even if he doesn't, what you are doing is tying this
family together in a way that no single reseracher could do on their own.
You are doing a tremendous body of work for those of us who descend from the
Cockshott families, and I just wanted to let you know that it is deeply
appreciated. I know you aren't doing it alone, and many researchers have
contributed to this effort. I thank them as well. But if you hadn't
started this study in the first place and created this group, I'd still be
struggling along trying to find my first connections in England.

being the children of Thomas and Catherine (nee VICKERS) are wrong ? and
they are in fact the children of Thomas and Sarah SHUTTLEWORTH ?
