Hi
I am from the states and I have used L.D.S.
films, fiche, or the I.G.I. One thing the fiche or the
I.G.I. gives dose not tell is the adobe or proffesion.
My third gr grand father was Thomas Cockshott.
My question or facts cover Thomas Cockshott born 1819
in Kildwick Parish, the son of Edmund Cockshott and
Ann. They lived in Glusburn and Edmund was a farmer.
The facts are taken from the Deanery of Caven,
Kildwick Parish Register 1600 to 1843. on L.D.S film
#0919148 and 49.
On page 70 under Baptisms Parish of Kildwick 1817, the
last line #624.
When Baptized: Aug. Born Juty 28th
Child's Christian name : Thomas Son of
Parents name: Edmund & Ann
Surname: Cockshott
Abode: Cononley
Trade or Profession: Cordwiner
If you go to page 102, dated 1819, first line is
another Thomas. The date is hard to read but it looks
like he was born july 2 1817. This is #816
Child's Christian name: Thomas Son of
Parents name; Edmund and Ann
Surname: Cockshott
Abode: Glusburn
trade or Profession: Farmer
I that time period, I do not think they would have
move that much and change professions.
I have checked the film for a listing of Thomas (b.
1817)death and I can not find one.
On fiches # 69097881, marriages, a to z, 1576-1754
1757-1837 you will find lised Cockshott, 6 Apr 1795
Edmund Ann Wilkinson. A little futher down the page
you will find Cockshott 13 Nov. 1804 Edmund Anne
Bottomley. No profesion or adobe are listed.
If you go to births and christenings 1789-1843 fisches
# 6909780 you will find listed:

My question is, who is the parents of Thomas Cockshott
born 1819?
If you want copies of the above information I can send
files of this information.
Regards
John

How about a roll call ?
There are a couple of new subscribers on the list.
If you haven't posted before: just give us an idea of which branch you are connected through .. how far back you are and how you
got there.
and the "old" subscribers: got anything new ? from BMD, will, family bible, séance ? LOL
Where is your brick wall ?
I'm not getting much further with my David (Chr. 1782 Emley father John) although I am now in touch with a descendent of David's
daughter Christiana :-)
While in England I looked at the records for Silsden and Kirby Malham, I've sorted out a few Addingham ones, updated the Calverley
and Farsley people, searched and found Long Preston people in the 1841.
Am still sorting out some of the wills I noted/ordered while in York .. at the moment the 17 page will of "Edmund COCKSHUTT of
Ball Greave in the Township of Colne, Gentleman" .. he owned property in Yorkshire .. including "2 thirds part of a cotton mill at
Malham in Malham Dale" and of "1 half of a stand and share at the Halifax Cloth Hall"
is anyone on this list actually connected to the COCKSHUTTs of Great Hardwood ?
I've up-dated the 1841 - 1871 census files too.
Cheers Jane

Jane (1816) was the daughter of Ellen COCKSHOTT and John POLLARD
Ellen POLLARD (nee COCKSHOTT) married a John COWLING after the death of John POLLARD
Ellen COCKSHOTT 1794 is the daughter of John COCKSHOTT and Hannah SMITH ?

I have just started researching my family tree and just discovered ancestory.com.uk. I note from one of your pages that William
Cockshutt from Rhode Island is searching his Uk heritage. He and I share the same Great Grandparents - William and Elizabeth . How
do I contact him .Is it via yourself?
I am finding it all very fascinating. My Grandparents are Harry Cockshutt and Annie Eastwood born in Blackburn Lancashire.
Any further information you have I would love to receive.

Think this must be the Richard mentioned by Sue Gardner Shreve with death 1822 not 1882.
Would be interesting to know where the "Caldwell" comes from.
COCKSHOTT, Richard Caldwell - Son of Samuel & Alice Died Jan 21, 1822 Age 9 months
NOTES: Replaced stone. Transcription in the information center at the cemetery gives his last name as "Cogebell". Also has dates
of 1822-1822.
Another transcription in the information center gives his name as Cockshell (Probably Cogshall 1930), son of Samuel and Alice, his
wife, d. Jan. 21, 1822.
