Hi listers,
I have just found a COCKSHOOT connection to my family tree via Selina BOWER
whose grandfather William THOMPSON was my 5th great-grandfather, that is
assuming the marriage details for the couple come back showing Thomas BOWER
as her father.
I am interested in the descendants of William & Selina.
I have only found the link today so don't have much details apart from what
is online - ancestry.com census, IGI, BMD, rootsweb ...
Can anyone tell me what happened to the Coach building business of Joseph
COCKSHOOT and was it passed down the family line or was it sold on?
Best wishes,
Sharon in Perth, Western Australia

1189. WILLIAM CRISP was indicted for stealing, on the 28th of May, 1 jacket,
value 10s., and 1 shawl, value 5s. , the goods of John Cocksholt .
JOHN COCKSHOLT. I am a lighterman, and live in Brunswick-street, Blackwall.
On the 28th of May, about two o'clock, these things were in the front
kitchen; we were at dinner in the back kitchen; my little girl came and said
there was a man there - I ran out - he had got up the area-steps and locked
the gate after him - I went up, and a boy described a man to me as having a
hairy cap and a basket; I caught sight of him, and ran, but lost him; I
returned home; went out again in a few minutes, and saw the prisoner; from
the boy's description I made a grasp at him; he threw this basket at me, and
broke from me, but was stopped immediately; my jacket and shawl were in the
basket, under some shavings.(Property produced and sworn to.)
