This publication contains Revolutionary War Claims Barred by the Statutes of Limitation as communicated to the Senate on December
13, 1810. Don't be fooled by the title ... these are actually PAID claims.
Included is the 1 1/2 Page Senate Bill #216 followed by "a statement of all the claims which have been adjusted and allowed at the
Treasury Department, and for which certificates of registered debt issued, in virtue of a law entitled "An act providing for the
settlement of claims of persons under particular circumstances barred by limitations heretofore established," passed on the 27th of
March, 1792.

Morning Mabel :-)
Thank-you
Yep :-)) I'm collecting COCKSHOTT etc. lots of etcs. Basically anything that starts with COCKSH***
106 spelling variations .. you can chose your favourite here:
http://www.janelachs.de/cockshott/cockshott.htm
Actually .. I'll be updating that page later to-day because I've found some more, including the earliest so far :-)
This particular family was interesting .. about 3 years ago Tony CHEAL posted a newspaper report of a marriage in 1924.
All I had was .....
"The bride, Miss Dorothea Cockshott, of Harrogate, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Cockshott, of Totley, near Sheffield, was given
away by her uncle, Mr Samuel Cockshott. "
which wasn't much to go on then .. but now with the advances we've made regards on-line records I thought I'd have another look.
I found a Dorothea birth on the FreeBMD June 1900, registered Ecclesall Bierlow.
I found her with her parents William and Jennie and siblings on the 1901 index in Dore, Derbyshire with her birth place as Totley.
I found them again 1891 (Ancestry.com) and the marriage of her parents in 1885. (FreeBMD)
On the National Burial Index CDs I found:
28 Dec 1904 Jennie COCKSHOTT 44 Derbys, Dore, Christ Church
11 Feb 1905 William COCKSHOTT 44 Derbys, Dore, Christ Church
I used my database to find a William born Morecambe ca. 1861 with a brother Samuel and found a rather well-off William, grocer with
wife Martha and 4 children, William, Samuel, Joseph and Ann (some more old postings of Tony mentioned Martha's death and Ann's
marriage)
I found brother Samuel at home in 1891 and married in 1901 and now you've sent me this below :-)))
I bet I find those poor little orphans living with Uncle Samuel on the 1911 census ...
Cheers Jane
PS
This is not "my" family .. just part of my COCKSHOTT ONS and most of it wouldn't be possible without the help of other YORKSGEN
subscribers.
Copying to "my" COCKSHOTT list LOL

Are you researching COCKSHOTT ? (posting this to the list in case you were
helping someone else) If so, do you have this from Coatham PR ?
19 March 1895, Ronald Francis William COCKSHOTT born 24 January 1895, son of
Samuel and Marianna, engineer of Coatham, was baptised by William Robert
RAYSON.
6 April 1899, Kathleen Frances Elizabeth COCKSHOTT , daughter of Samuel &

Subject: [YKS] New Version of UK BMD web site.
Dear all,
A new version of the UK BMD web site went
on the air tonight. It is a complete re-write and
offers links to over 150 web sites that offer
on-line information for UK births, marriages
and deaths.
http://www.UKBMD.org.uk
More sites will be added as and when I find out
about them. Let me know of any missing ones.
The new site is navigated by a menu on its left
side. For example, if all you want is the links to
the local BMD sites, such as Cheshire BMD, then
simply press the 'Local BMD' button.
Note that the Isle-of-Wight are the latest to
offer BMD indexes on-line. (Under Hampshire, if
you're searching by county)
If you want information specific to a county
(or country), select one from the drop-down
list and then press the 'County' button.
Other buttons should be self-explanatory.
I only subscribe to CHS, YKS and GENBRIT, so
please cross post this note to as many genealogy
lists as you can, as most counties have
entries on the new site.
Hope you find it useful !

Has anyone got a birth date for the first child ? and a marriage date for Thomas and Elizabeth ? Her obit says she "came to the
States" in 1863 but if John J. was born ca. 1862 then maybe they were in the States earlier than 1863.
1870 USA census, 13th August:
27 years old with Thomas 28, both born in England. Presuming these 4 are their children:
John J. 8 years old, born Ill.
Mary E. 5, born Ill.
William S ?., 5 born MO
Eliza, one month old born MO
Living next door to Elizabeth's parents and to the 3 CLIFT in-laws, and on the other side Margaret and husband Richard JONES.
(note the CLIFTs are indexed as COCKSHOT at Ancestry.com, e.g. Cliff Thomas COCKSHOTT, the actual page clearly is CLIFT)

Evening Bruce,
your Grace is here with the bits and pieces I've found so far:
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=cockshottlist&...
For LISTER interests you must talk to Mary LISTER .. she's been helping me too: emelle_kay(a)hotmail.com
and somewhere on the web is Nic WILSON's Wharfedale COCKSHOTT family pages but the link I have is broken.
http://www.wharfegen.org.uk/ad-cock1.htm
I can't find the email address for Barbara .. maybe another researcher has it !?
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/YKSlist/YKSShi-Skr.htm
Copying to COCKSHOTT list
Cheers Jane

Jane:
Thank you for your reply.
I went to the web site you mentioned but couldn't see any way to link up to
Lister Cockshott and get back those 5 or 6 generations. Can you give any
advice?
Actually I am more interested in descendants. The COCKSHOTT name enters my
line with Henry Cockshott who married Grace Lister. I am interested in
finding all I can about them and their descendants.
Regards
Bruce Moorhouse
