My Cox/Cocks line is through William Cox, born in Virginia 1770 and his
son Reuben. Reuben was born in Virginia in 1800 and died in Osage
County, Missouri in 1876. Is anyone else researching this line?
Chris Thiessen
I, too, am very curious about the pictures. Is there any more information
with the picture, other names, name of photographer, place of photographer?
Would love a copy of them. Gladly pay the costs.
My Cocks ancestors came from England in 1870 to Canada then moved to Denver
in the 1880's. George Josiah Cocks and Sarah May Cocks had nine children:
Thomas George , Harry James, William May, Edwin Samuel, Jennie, Clara, Bertrand
Richard, Alfred, and Daisy.
My line is through Harry James Cocks (1864-1923). His children were *Luella
May, Rosamund, Alfred James, Elizabeth Mary, Charlotte Daisy, Harry james,
George Green Cocks, Ambrose, Arthur, Stella and Walter. * my grandmother.
Do any of these names connect with your Cocks family?
Arlene
Does anyone live close enough to go buy the photos? I would gladly pay
the cost plus shipping.

I was antique shopping yesterday in the Mission District of San
Francisco and noticed that there were some old late 1800s famiily photos
labeled "Cocks". They were of a Cocks matriarch (very stern looking with
dark hair and what is sometimes called a "horsey" face) and her grown
sons and she was holding a baby in one photo. They were $1 each. The shop
was on Valencia St. between 16th and 17th street, on the west side.
